I volunteered as Suzie's angel on Sunday. I called the hospital on Wednesday, 8/15/01 and was told there is no Suzie Mayfield as a patient. If anyone hears from Suzie, please let me know. Thanks! Alisa

Hi Suzie, I read your posting and I Know how you feel. My husband is very resistant to this surgery too. He is not fighting me any more but he does let me know he isn't happy about it at all. He thinks it is not necessary and if I trien I could lose the weight on my own says he who never had to watch his weight a day in his life. He says surgery is a risk and since it is elective it is unnecessary. He said if I die and kleave him alone he will kill me. I know he is just afraid but the Dr. told him it is more risky for me if I don't get the weight off soon. So he is going along with me but only because he has no choice. So my Dear you just hang in there your husband will come around, men just don't know what to do with their feelings so they act mad. They hate to admit that they are afraid formus and so they come across angry. It has taken me 30 years with this man to figure him out but now I realize what he is about. He will be right there for me even if he disaproves. My family is all grown up now and they are not sure they want me to do this either but they will support me all they can no matter what. I hope you have some support in that corner. I will keep you in my prayers and feel free to write me anytime or you can call me if you like, I live in Apple Valley( 760-2476357) or you can e-mail me also ( ameliascorner@aol.com)My date is Aug. 21 I am going to San Diego to have mine with Dr. Rumsey of Pacific Bariatric. ::::::BIG HUGS TO SUZIE::::::: Be brave suz... My RNY is scheduled for 8-30-01 in San Diego and I am like you, scared silly. Considering I have never had a broken bone or even a cavity in my life, let alone MAJOR surgery it is the fear of the unknown that is killing me... You will do so awesome. Hi Suzie, Best of luck with your up-coming, life-changing surgery. Online support is very important because even though families try to be supportive, they are often very scared. They also many never have "walked in your shoes" so can't relate to the intensity of our frustration with diets that don't work well enough. I am 4 months post op and can tell you that life is better after WLS - a lot better.
