Angel report: Annette developed pain on her left side, she called the doctor and was told by the nurse that the pain might just be nerve endings weaking up. She spoke to the nurse again on the 26th and was told that if she feels uncomfortable with the pain, she should see her family doctor. She got on appointment for the next day and her doctor told her to see her surgeon the same day. This doctor was upset because she does not know anything about this type of surgery and felt that it was irresponsible for her surgeon not to see her. Annette called Dr Martins office again and requested to be seen by the surgeon that same day. The nurse tried to set her up with the nurse practictioner but Annette incisted to see Dr Martin. She was then told to go to the Middleton ER because Dr Martin would be there. We checked in about 3:30 p.m., were checked by the doctor on duty. He run some tests and then we were told to wait for Dr Martin. He arrived about 10:30 and decided to keep Annette overnight. Dr Martin did agree that she should not have been sent to her family doctor. How can a nurse decide?? I wonder. He ordered a whole range of tests: Xrays, upper GI, Lung Test, EKG, blood test and a cat scan of her whole body. A very stressful night. We did not get a bed for Annette until about 2 a.m. The pharmacy had closed down and Annette did now get her medication. The Hospital was very busy. Around 6 a.m. another woman was moved into the other bed in the room. When her doctor diagnosed her with a STOMACH FLU, we both and the IV left the room and spend the rest of the time in the waiting area. The diagnose came in the afternoon. She has a swollen spleen. After that, we finally could go home and got the much needed rest.
Annette is doing fine with the exception of the spleen. Let's hope the swelling will go away.
On the plus side, she lossed 23 lbs and has her first meeting with the nurses on the 4th hoping for a diet change. Purred food etc. HMHM good!
This is all so far. Even there were some negatives, I believe Dr. Martin knows what he is doing and he is a good surgeon. You just have to cut through the red tape in his office.
This is all so far. I will make another update as time goes by.
