Sorry that I haven't updated for a few days but I've been under the weather........... Sandy has been moved from ICU to a private room earlier this week and is doing beautifully. She has been chasing all the male patients around the halls to get her exercise (hehehehe). She has been experiencing some "leakage" from her incision but the surgeon doesn't seem to be too concerned. She has been given her discharge instructions, so perhaps she will be home in time for the Easter Bunny to greet her! Good news for her! Keep her in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery as she begins her "new life"!

Just to let everyone know, Sandy was removed from the airway and is breathing on her own as of yesterday morning! She is doing really well and hopefully will be moved from ICU and into her own room very soon! Hooray, Sandy!

Sandy has now been moved to a room in ICU where she remains intubated (not her most favorite thing). Hopefully by tomorrow, the nasty airway can be removed and I know that will make her feel better. She is doing well and writing notes to her family since she is unable to talk at the moment. (I'm sure we'll all pay for her silence! hehehe) Hang in there, kiddo!

I just spoke with Sandy's husband, Doug, and Sandy has come through her surgery with no complications or problems. She is now in the recovery room and is expected to be there for the next 2 hours or so. I am so proud of her for facing her demons, being brave and being a real trooper through surgery. As I obtain more information on Sandy's condition, I will keep everyone updated. Congratulations, girlfriend!!!

Hi Sandra...thank you for the words of encouragement. My surgery is at 7:30am on Monday, April 9, 01. I hope all goes well for the both of us! :)

thanks for the best wishes but i am not having it on the 9th. i had to have an echo because they think i have a heart murmur and a sleep study for sleep apnea. so far i have niether. the very best of wishes on your surgury. keep posted!! machelle

Sandra I wish you all the best and since you and I are having our surgeries on the same day and by the same surgeon, I am sure we will be just fine. Dr Rehnke is the best in my opinion. See you on the other side and at the next meeting.
