3rd Month Pre-Surgery Weight In

Jul 19, 2010

Wow-- I was so surprised.. went to my PCP for my 3rd mth pre-op lifestyle appt.. and lost 4 more pounds!... I lost 4 last month !!...  My food journal really helps.. I try to balance and get alittle of every food group. It's hard a times... I really didn't think I would lose any weight.. I thought.. geeze the food I am eating now is normal.. and just a good maintance diet... but over a months time.. my body did kick in.  My PCP had WLC, and is a wealth of information, and I really admire her.  I told her I had completed all my required testings.. and I am ready! (all except the Nutritian appt- aug 4).  All seems to be going along well...

Pysch evaluation

Jul 14, 2010

Hey-- saw the Dr for the Pysch evaluation today.. all went well.. I was lucky.. she actually had the WLS 3 yrs ago... so she new all the right things to ask.. and how to answer all the questions I had.  We had a nice long chat.. and she had some info on some good books to read.. and the website.. www.orlive.com ... to actually watch a RNY surgery... Very interesting.... A real awakening- to see what they really do.  So I am one step closer to my goal.. having the surgery.....  My nutritian appt in Aug 4.  Then I wait til Oct... to have my 6mths in... the time is just dragging on.. But I am sure I'll say how fast it went next year at this time.

PreOp Tests...

Jul 11, 2010

Well, I have 3 of my 5 required testings done this week.. I got the Upper GI, Chest XRay, and EKG done at my local hospital..  These were very easy, and painless....   Everyone kept asking, are you having problems, why are you having these tests done... that sorta bugged me.. it's like.. READ the perscription order people...  ; But NO, they must want to hear if from me... "I'm having Weight Loss surgery and these are preop testings"... DAH!....  I guess it is the first step to conquering this overeating problem I have, that has gotten me to this point....   I swallowed my pride, and said it with confidence, and surprisingly, it didn't bother me.. and the Xray Techs' didn't react like I thought they may.   My Psychic appt and Nutritian appt are scheduled for 1st week of Aug....  Can't wait for the 6mths to be over, and get a surgery date!!!

Great Dr visit..

Jul 06, 2010

Well I had my first visit with my surgeon.. Dr Carol Mc Closkey at UPMC- Magees Womens Hosp.... she was fantastic.  Everyone in the Bariatric center of the hospital was great.  Dr M. explained everything to my husband and I--- and answered all my '5' sheets of questions.. :).  Her credentials are outstanding, and she has a perfect track record with all her 250 surgeries she has done for the past 5 yrs.. I feel I could not be in better hands...   She gave me my perscriptions for testings to complete in the next mth or so.. and i scheduled 3 of them for tomorrow.. (I'm on vacation so I thought I would dive right  in).  Great news.. was I don't have to have a Sleep Apnea test or a Colonoscopy.  I was afraid she may order them.. and they both freek me out...   and she said they were not necessary for me.. Hurray!  So a very good visit with her... I'll see her again after my 6 mth weigh in.. and once BCBS puts there stamp of approval on it.. I am READY!..  Hopefully before the end of Nov... I wish it was tomorrow!....

The journey

Jul 01, 2010

So I am 3 mths into the 6mth lifestyle change.... The days seem to go buy so slow.  Im educating myself regarding the surgery as much as possible.  Reading books... internet sites.. and this great site of course...  Talking to medical professionals, friends, and family.   I talk personally with 2 people I know what have had successful surgery results....   Tell me how to pass the time.. this is going to be FOREVER!
I'm watching what I eat now.. and am steadily losing weight... Also walking daily on the treadmill.  I was going to get the baby utensils to start eating with... any other ideas?
