Hi Joanne I saw you posting and thought I would let you know I also live in Tenino, I had my surgery on 9/17/02 with Dr. Oh in Federal Way. I had Diabetes ( 260u a day), Sleep Apnea (CPAP machine) and high blood pressure (3meds a day). I was very scared too, but staying so heavy was even scarer. I am off all medication and doing great. This web site can answer alot of you questions just do as much research as you need. Take care and trust your heart.

Joanne, My surgeon is in Boise, Idaho. That's not too far away from you. His office number is 208-344-2929. I had the DS almost 2 years ago and am at goal. You won't find a better surgeon, and he also happens to have a wonderful staff. Best wishes. Brenda

Hi Joanne - saw your post on the message board. Here's how I did it - I pulled up a list of all the WA state doctors by "find a doc" (and Oregon and Idaho) and printed it off. Then, one by one, I crossed off the ones I didn't want, and highlighted the ones on my insurance. Then I called each one to see if they were still with my insurance, how soon could I get a consult, and some other questions (one not too far away wants cash up front, and you take your changes on getting paid back by insurance - no thanks!) I don't know where your town is (I'm in Walla Walla) but I know that the doctors at Rockwood Clinic in Spokane are good, and Dr. Simonowitz in the northwest corner is very good - know several people who used him. Don't give up, you've got some hard work ahead of you, and you are worth it all!
