~~~~~~CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR UPCOMING SURGERY~~~~~~ (Everything in our lives happens for a purpose and that purpose is to prepare us) May God give you courage, strength and guidance throughout your new journey. You are about to embark on the most amazing transformation of you mind, body and soul. Your big day is almost here, this is the day, your new life will begin, I cant promise it will be easy, cant say it will be hard, I can say that with all the complications and everything I had to go through, It was well worth it. I have never felt better in yearsss, I’m off all medications, have sooooo much more energy. So if you hit a bump in the road, hang in there and remember it will alll be worth it in the long run. Sending Prayers your way that the Lord will guide your surgeon’s hands. May the guardian angels wrap their loving arms of protection around you during your surgery and recovery . Remember your not alone in this journey, many of us have been down this road, we are here to offer love and support. Looking forward to hearing from you on the loosing side. OK--I got a call from MUSC today and I have my day long consult and nut. appointment scheduled for June 15. It will be from 9:30 am-4:30 pm. I work at MUSC and I go to work from 5pm-12am. I think I may be too tired to spend a whole night at work after this. I may schedule a day off but I really need to save my PTO for my surgery--MY SURGERY!!! that's so crazy!!! I am too sick right now with a head cold to really be bouncing up and down. I need to get a living will since I have two little girls. My daughter (6 1/2) only thinks I am going to see a Dr. who will tell me how to eat right and exercise. She said-thank god, you are too big!! I agree!!! Not for long!!!!!!!!!!

I mailed off my completed surgical package 05/09/06. I am very anxious to hear back from Joyce. I hope that I will get a consult appointment within the month. I have no idea how long it takes them to set up a consult after they have received the info pack. I am also nervous that I may have to wait for the surgery longer than I want due to the test group they are setting up. I want my band as soon as possible but I know I have to be patient. I just want to call the office and see if they have my pack but I don't want to seem like a nut! I am very excited and happy!!! This may actually happen : )

I just found out that Dr. Byrne and Dr. Morgan from MUSC are now starting to do Lap Band surgery!!!!!!!! I have wanted this but settled for thinking I wanted a RNY since that had been the only thing they offered. My insurance covers both RNY AND Lap band!!!!! I am so glad that I did not have RNY. This is like a dream come true. I had just resigned myself to thinking that I would just have to deal with my weight and that was the end of it. I am so sure of this surgery with NO doubts! I have not gotten my package yet but I will fax it in the minute I finish. They need a group of 5 women with a BMI of 40 to be the guinnea pigs! Noone at MUSC has been banded yet and I hope to be one of the firsts!!! I will tell the Docs about this wonderful support site for other patients! I am so happy but a little worried that I will have to wait for my surgery until he has the group of 5 put together--who knows how long that will take.

Ok--I have not sent in my packet--after long,long,long thought, I have decided to put this on hold and try to diet and exercise. I need to try EVERYTHING in my power to lose weight without surgery first. Not just a few weeks and give up. I have joined our community center and will be walking on an indoor walking track everyday with my 8 month old. I have to give myself a try. I feel like I gave up on myself and I need to deal with a lot of issues in my head or I would have failed at WLS also.
