I wasn't always an overweight kid but I did love my food. As a kid, I would eat dinner at my best friend's house then come home and have another dinner with my family, telling my mom I didn't eat anything yet. I went thru childhood not overy obese but mostly chunky. At age 15 I reached 180, and decided I needed to do something about this . My mother was on the NutriSystem diet and she was successful. She was even on a few of their commercials in the late 80's. I went on the Diet Center program and was quite successful too. I would walk to school and back. I eventually dropped down to 142 and looked and felt great! Then my mother got transferred to Aurora, Illinois for her job. It was a bit dificult to get back to a "diet mode" and we both gained our weight back slowly. After high school I moved out and started working part time and college part time. I didnt have enough time in my day to make meal plans (so I thought) so I would drive by McD's any chance I would get. Let me tell you, I don't think there is another french fry as good as McD's. Those things are evil! Anywho, I was getting really bad eating habits like going out to clubs then hitting Steak N Shake afterwards at 2 in the am. Then I met my husband, who is a wonderful man that loves me no matter what size I am. We got married in 2002. We also got lazier and ate more and more. Last month I got weighed for the first time in a long time......399.5. A half pound shy of 400. Talk about a depressing night., I really had a hard time with that number. I got my paperwork and doctor's ok with the surgery. Sent in the paperwork to the surgeons office on 7/18/07. As of July 19th, I am now waiting for the ok from the surgeon so that they can send the request for approval to my insurance company. I have heard good things about my insurance but I am not getting my hopes up until I actually have that approval. I do have to lose some weight to get a BMI of 55. As of right now , 7/19/07, I have lost 10 lbs and am at 389.5. I would like to be at least 355 or 350. The surgeons require to have a BMI of 55 or less, for health reasons.
