Hi Marcy: I just had the surgery 6 days ago. I breezed through with no problems. My advice is to walk as much as possible before the surgery. I attribute my fast recovery to the walking and exercise I did. It sure makes a difference. As for what to bring to the hospital. My wife bought me a robe and slippers. I didn't use them. Myself and other bariatric patients were just walking around the halls in our hospital gowns. They have ones that are large enough for us. I wore the socks that have slip resistant bottoms. Just basically a toothbrush. The hospital provides anything you want. Clean underware is a must. And whatever you'll be wearing home. They provided me with lip balm, because my lips got dry.
