I've finally hit a triple digit loss!

Mar 02, 2009

As of this weekend February 29, 2009, I've lost 101 pounds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My reward to myself is going to be a full body one hour massage! I'm scheduling it tomorrow and I cannot wait! I would never get massages before because I never thought anyone should have to massage such a fat person.

I had my gallbladder removed the day after Christmas and since then have become lactose intolerant, but other than that I'm doing really well.

August 11 is my date!

Aug 01, 2008

Well, it's been a while since I've updated. I finally have a surgery date! I am currently on the liquid diet which is hard, but hasn't been too much for me to handle. I keep thinking of how it's not forever, and it's a stepping stone to surgery. A few weeks after surgery I'll be able to have real food again, only much less and much healthier.
I've been drinking a lot of water and my husband and I started working out. We're doing the P90X program which is hard. It's so much fun to work out together. The kids even get up and do jumping jacks with us.
I can't wait to feel lighter and healthier once some of this weight is off. I was nervous about the surgery when I first got my date, but right now I feel very determined and not nervous about it at all. I'm sure I'll be nervous that morning, but who isn't?

Sleep Study Complete!

May 27, 2008

So, I'd better catch everyone up on what's happening. On May 16th I had my sleep study done here at the hospital in Clinton. I did not sleep well at all! It sucked. I kept trying to force myself to sleep and I couldn't get comfortable knowing that someone was watching me and I had all those leads all over myself.  Oh well, at least it's done.

I also attended the required post op support group meeting on May 14. I was kind of intimidated because of the large number of people. I guess it's good that they have such a great turn out though. I just didn't know anyone and felt really out of place. I will try another one after surgery and see if my feelings change.

I just called Dr. Price's office to see if they have all my records. I got a voicemail and hopefully will hear back soon.

Inching closer to surgery...

May 07, 2008

I had my consult with Dr. Price on April 16. He said I am an excellent candidate for surgery. He is very straightforward about this being a tool. I really like the idea that the program at St. Luke's is very comprehensive. I got my appointment for my psych eval. They also gave me a list of documentation and records I need to submit. Nothing too terrible. I don't have to do a supervised diet so I'm thrilled about that.

April 30th I had my appointments with Tricia, Thelma, and Bridget. Now all that's left to do is my sleep study. I just got a call from my PCP's clinic and the referral nurse asked me what day I prefer for a sleep study. I told her Friday. I'm secretly hoping it's this Friday so I don't have to wait long. I hope to hear back from her today.
I'm hoping to have surgery sometime in the middle of summer.

I have been started on an exercise plan that works me up to a goal of 60 minutes of cardio 7 days per week. I've done well so far, meeting all my goals.

Seminar completed!

Apr 08, 2008

I attended the informational seminar with Dr. Price tonight. My husband came with me. We are both in agreement that this is a good idea for me. I really feel comfortable with Dr. Price. His staff seems so nice. He seems to be very successful with his surgeries. I scheduled my consult for next Wednesday, April 16. I can't wait! I'm hoping things go smoothly from here and the process isn't too drawn out. It just feels good to have things moving.

I am actually beginning the process!

Mar 26, 2008

I am so excited. I am actually beginning the process of having surgery. I have registered for a class with Dr. Price. It is April 8. I keep looking at all the before and after photos on here and cannot wait to look that great! I can't wait to have energy to keep up with my kids.
I am also looking forward to being more confident as I lose weight. I am currently going to school for a two year accounting degree and will begin searching for a job next spring and want to look and feel good about myself. I shudder to think how I will feel if I have to go job hunting and do interviews at this weight.
I can't wait to wear smaller clothes. There are some clothes in my closet that I'd love to get back into, even if only for a short time.
I was going to start the South Beach Diet while I'm waiting to have surgery, but realized that I need to go grocery shopping first as all the food in our house was not SBD friendly.
More later.

Back and ready for action.

Mar 21, 2008

Well, it's been nearly a year since I was here last. I have since given birth to my third child, a girl named Mallory, born Oct. 29, 2007. She is such a beautiful baby and I am so glad she is here.
I started Weight Watchers when she was 4 weeks old and haven't lost 10 pounds yet. I am so tired of trying diets and failing. I so want to be thin and healthy. I want to go places and not worry about fitting in the chairs comfortably or people discrediting me because of my size. I want to be the energetic "soccer mom" for my kids and be just as active as they are. I want to want to exercise. I want to play sports at the local park and rec. I used to play basketball and softball in high school and was pretty good. I want to do that again. I want to enjoy being me.
I am attending a "Learn more about gastric bypass and lap band" informational meeting at St. Luke's in Kansas City on April 8. I am so ready to start this process. Hopefully the surgery will be soon to follow. The one downside is that I'll probably have to wean my baby and I so enjoy nursing and planned on at least a year.

The Process is on hold for now...

Mar 07, 2007

Well, looks like I'll be putting my process of having surgery on hold for a while. I found out last week that I am expecting my third child. Should be due in November. While completely surprised, I am also happy. Though I am nervous about gaining any more weight.
I'm doing a glucose tolerance test tomorrow. We'll see how it goes.
I'll update more later.
