"Dr. Thrift is very easy to talk to, answers questions completely. He gave a good explanations about the pros and cons of each of the surgery methods as well as the risks and benefits.
He works at the Barix Clinic in Wylie, Tx. He talked about the extensive requirements the surgeons have to complete in order to work for the group.
Barix offers a packaged aftercare program with followup visits at 2 weeks, 3 months, 6 months and then yearly - including bloodwork and nutritional follow up with a dietitian.
I particularly liked the fact that the clinic and doctor specialize in bariatric surgeries. Because it is the only focus of the practice, and they take a conservative approach to surgery and aftercare - their complication rates are less than the national average. "
"1. The facility is GEARED toward accommodating the needs of obese people. They provide "reachers" to assist with bathing and personal hygiene needs.
2. Very attentive to complaints of discomfort.
3. Many of the staff have had some sort of bariatric surgical procedure also, so they tended to be sympathetic to the situation.
4. Although Wylie is a little out of the way -- the hospital facility was very modern and accommodating.
5. The PCT, I wish I could remember her name, she was THE BEST. I felt like she was MY personal assistant, she was always there when I needed her help."
