Today I've determined to call Barix Clinic and get more informaiton from them; my insurance company, to verify the requirements needed for WLS; and McClaren in
Flint
, to see if it is more reasonable to go innetwork and save money. Mcclaren requires pre-opt and post-opt. Optifast program, which insur. doesn't cover....so depends how much this costs. I will update when I get more info... Yikes, just noticed my weight when I started this profile, not accurate now....I'm 266 (that's what happens when I go on a diet, lose weight the first couple of months then gain gain gain...how depressing)
I'm a good candidate for WLS says my surgeon. I do have to go through six months of "medically supervised dieting" to satisfy my
Aetna
insurance. I am three months into that.
I'm hoping to have WLS this spring!!!

Well, this was a good news/bad news day.
Aetna
is going to cover WLS on our plan for the 2005 year!! Yippie, I had heard that they were going to drop WLS....I'm so glad they didn't.
Barix Clinic is out of the question for me to go to.
Aetna
said that I would have to pay 60% of EVERYTHING plus $250 deducitble becuase Barix isn't in network.....That would be around $14,000 out of pocket for me!! My hubbie works long and hard, but there is no way we would be able to pay that much money.
So, I'm back searching for a surgeon. The only on in network so far is Dr. Wease at McLaren in
Flint
. This would be only an hour drive for me (Barix was a three hour drive) so that is a plus.
I have an appointment with McLaren on Dec. 8, 2004 to see if I qualify for their program. (It erks me that I have a BMI of 44 but they have to "see" if I qualify...duh... even my insurance says that I qualify because of my BMI alone!!!
Alright, I'm done complaining. After my apt. on the 8th, then there is a complete physical, psyc eval, nutritional assessment, all to go through! But I'm up to jumping' those hurdles if it means a healthier me !!
