2006

Feb 24, 2006 Today I turn 30 I only wish I was able to enojy the last 29 birthdays as much as I am today. A much healthier happier person. I am down to 160lbs which was my original goal. I do have some more to loose and BMI still in the slightly overweight catagory. I guess I will have to modify that a bit. So like us all I will continue on with my struggle to finally enjoy life.

Well I haven't updated in a while Everything is still going great It is 5 days until my 1 year and I have lost 113 lbs I have been able to maintain at 155 however I am still losing inches I am 5'6 and wear a size 10/12 bottom and S-M-or L top depending on where I am going I bought my first 2 piece swimsuit this year however it is NOT a bikini I come to this site every day and read on 95% (my guess) of the profiles I that if given a do over they would have the surgery again For me without a question this was the 1 most emotional, exciting and scariest thing I have every done (and I had a baby at 16!!!) but has been 1 of 4 (kids and hubby come 1st of course) the most amazing, rewarding and satisfing things I have done as well Will add some new pics for my 1 year trying to get my BMI to normal for my 1 year 6/21 only a ppoint or so to go
I hope for the best for you all

It has been such a year. I am complication free and down approx 115 lbs. I have gone from a womens 24 to a 10/12 and have gained more than I would ever begin to express in words. Below you will see some 1 yr pics that I had my son take of me. The difference is apparent in not only my apperance. Hope all is well with you all. Blessings Ms JoAnn

July 14th 2006
I was on the message board and thought I should drop a line on my profile to update. Everything is going very well with me. I am still loosing however it is slow. My weight goes up and down but currently I am at 148. I have gone back to adding 2 protein shakes (body fortress choc w/ 8oz carb countdown choc milk=28 grams) in with my meals daily so I can start to maintain. I am very happy with how far I have come and remind myself daily exactly where I started. Kids and DH are great, love them more than air!!! Well not much more going on. Until next time.

Just got back from the AMA Superbike races that we go to every year. I got to meet Nicky Hayden!!! He is a MotoGp (motorcycle) racer from Owensboro, KY. It is awesome to watch the KY Kid battle with best from around the world. He was at the AMA race to support his 2 brothers that race superbikes. My family have been fans of theirs for years. It was so exciting. This year was sooo much easier than the last few. I was much more comfortable walking around the track all day. It was easy to stay hydrated and I saved alot of money not having to eat massive amounts of food like in the past. I have some incredible before and after pictures that compare last year to this year. I will post them below. My life has become so enjoyable. This was the greatest gift I have ever been given. I am not perfect nor is my life however I am much happier. I now have alternatives to working through issues and not just running to food to be emotionally rescued. I have become so held back emotionally because of my weight and breaking through that wall has become a challenge. I am determined to change. To become a better person, mother, lover and wife. If my husband Chris ever reads this I love you with all my heart and though I may never be perfect at showing it you mean the world to me and I love you with all that I have in me. I have decided to quit smoking altogether. I quit for 4 months before my surgery but about 2 months post op started back. I quit on 7/17/06 and was smoke free until this weekend when I relapsed, I am back on track and day 2 with no cig! Well I guess I should get back to work. Hope all is well Ms JoAnn

Oct. 18, 2006I haven't updated in a while.  All is well..struggling harder as time goes on to eat the way I have trained myself the past 16 months.  Seems like it is easier to eat the way I ate for 29 years!  I will get it together no doubt. I promised myself at the begining that I would never again be MO and that has not changed. Weight has been the same for some time now which is fine with me. I stay between 155-160. I have to come up with a plan to help with the exercise thing. I work a full and part time job and have a bad back (from car accident) so it is hard. Well I must get back to work. Hope anyone reading great success in whatever your future holds WLS related or not.Ms JoAnn

2007

1/9/07  Wow It has been a long time since I have updated!

I have never been a poster child for this profile thing. All is great no complaints and 19 months after open RNY I am within a normal weight range. I seem to stay between 150-160 which is ok. There are times when I am at or closer to the 150 mark that I feel too thin but in time I too will adjust. It's still a struggle to remember my vitamins. I am good with water and protein but vitamins have always been my down fall. Holidays were great and I treated my self to goodies but never let it get too out of control. Hubby and our oldest son are trying to drop a couple pounds so we are all kinda keeping each other in line. Guess that is all until next time.

1/25/07

Hello all!!!!!!   Just wanted to update   All is well  weight loss wise i am still maintaining but am staying closer to the 150 end. Kids are growing fast and love my husband more and more everyday eveb though I didn't think it possible. We just got a new puppy! Early November we lost our oldest Boxer Deek to cancer. Our entire family was devistated. Even though I swore that we would just have Duke and not add another dog to the family I couldn't help myself. Our new member is a female boxer. Her name is Sadie and she is 5 months old. The smile on my youngest childs face when we brought her in makes every dog mess I clean up worth it!  I will load a pic of her soon. I think I'll call and make an appointment to have our family pic taken with the dogs. We did that a couple years ago with our dog Deek before we got Duke and they turned out really good.  Well I should get back to work. Take Care:Ms JoAnn

April 10, 2007
Well I thought I would update this profile since I was on the site again today. Haven't updated in a while, but of course I have said before that I am not one who is good at keeping up their profile. I am trying to become more active on the boards but it is still hard for me. What I have found that keeps me successful may not be good advise for the next guy or gal. I am definatly not a A+ patient however I have incorporated my doct rules and what I found that works for me and have become a success!  I am below my goal with a normal BMI  I have the occational choc and carbs but try to stick to the protein first rule.  I take my vitamins and B12 shot regularly and for the most part do not drink while I eat. The only thing in my opinion that I need to improve on is exercise. I have been following meltingmama for a long time and I tell you what she is becoming my favorite person. I value her opinion because even though I don't know her personally I have found through her post if she thinks it she will say it (post/blog it) because she can not stop herself! My kinda lady. She has found a system that keeps her successful and now blogs to pass the information along.  On another note I finally have pics of my new furbaby Sadie. She will be 8 months old on the 14th. My oldest son turned 15 yesterday and my baby will be 10 on the 22nd. I tell ya they really do grow up so fast. Seems like 18 was such a long way away and now it's just 3 more years. It's kinda bitter sweet for me. I am both excited and scared. It has never been just my husband and myself, there has always been a kid (we had him when I was 16 and dad 18) so we have never had the place to ourselves. That'll be different. Well that's it for now hope all is well.           ms joann

May 24, 2007

I have been informed to update so here it goes. Nothing new really. Just getting ready for the kiddos to get out of school. Heading to Disney the end of June for the first time. I think I am more excited than they are!! My oldest recevied the MVP award for defense on the freshman football squad and also received a varsity letter (as a freshman) since he also played on varsity and JV. My youngest donated approx 16 inches of hair to "locks of love" earlier this month so between the two of them I have been a proud momma. As far as weight loss I have been maintaining at about 150-155 which is fine for me but the skin is becoming an issue. In clothes it isn't as noticable but nekkid whoa that'll blind ya! I never thought it would be an issue but it is affecting me emotionally. I may have to find a wet suit in order to be seen at the beach. I have been trying to get back on the bike but since I had the car accident (rear ended by a dump truck) back in March 06 I have been having back issues and it doesn't seem to be getting any better, hopefully I will be able to ride this summer. It sure would save on gas. Ok well that is all thats been exciting in my life the past month or so. Will update soon and will definatly post new pics. Hope all is well   PS if you can't find me here you can usually find me at www.quixoticwls.com

Yesterday we had puppies 7 boys and 3 girls. I have always wanted a white boxer but never had the opportunity to get one. Well my youngest wanted to be able to keep one of the pups. So I made a deal that if Sadie had a white pup he could keep it. Well not only did she have a white pup she had 2 solid white pups! So I have held up my end of the deal and we will be welcoming Delilah to the family bringing the total spoiled boxers in our family to 3.

1 more day until my 3 year surgery anniversary

I will be taking pics over the weekend and will post them on Monday

I weighed myself just yesterday and I was 154  that number usually flucuates between 145-155 give or take through out the month however I am always comfortable in a 10/12?  I think I am good here I just wish there were foods that i could eat that would ONLY make my butt big (not completly small now however in comparison much different). I miss my big ol'booty and I am sure that my husband does as well though he is always letting me know I still completly turn him on LOL! So stay tuned for the big update.

so just to start off with- (dates on pics are accurate unless noted)

I will update the most current pics on Monday. As you can see already I have found out (so far) how to maintain for ME. I do not comply 100% all the time but that works for ME. I do try and at least remember to take my supplements, water and protein first but sometimes I fail. After 3 years I am not super human and I am still a work in progress. I have fully accepted the fact that I will battle head hunger and food demons forever and will live with the fear of obesity for the rest of my life. WLS is not a cure and it is not fool proof it is no different than anything else in life. To find what I thought was  success or to be what I think is "normal" I had to take the tool that I was given combine that with experience and alot of common sense and be willing to accept responsibility for the outcome of whatever I stuck in my mouth. In my eyes I am a success. I life now is so routine that if you didn't know I had WLS you would not be able to tell. I wanted to have the ability to take control and that is what my Dr helped me do 3 years ago. I had no power over food or the emotions that surrounded it when I was at my heaviest. I still sometimes to this day have to ruin the food that is left on my plate so that I do not pick at it until it is gone. I place a napkin or something on top so that it is contaminated and I will not continue to pick at it. But I learned that from someone who never had WLS. If I want to have a beer or alcoholic I do but I do not let it take the place of my nutrition and for me I have not had any problems with social drinking. If I want cake, candy, potato chips any of it, I eat it, that to me is normal. At any time I over do it I have been given the tool to let me know what it was that I did wrong (dumping) and the control to start over on the right foot the very next day. Sorry if you have made it this far you are a trooper! I have rambled and rambled and it isn't even my 3 year post! lol

So until Monday.........

Friday hubby and I took my MIL and friend out on the river in our boat. Ms Carol had never been with us on the river in the boat and was terrified but we actually talked her into it and she had a blast! We got in the water and downtown just in time for the fireworks to start (at the end of Reds baseball game). It was the black family reunion aswell but since we didn't get down there til late it was pretty dead so we didn't dock. Here's is my MIL you can tell she is nervous!

On Saturday the family and I took the boat and went camping for the first time in years!! 9 I think! We always boat but haven't camped in the wilderness (except at the bike races which is not the same) since the youngest was about 2. The first day was trying for the hubby but later that night and on Sunday it turned out to be a pretty relaxing and enjoying time for the 4 of us.   Enjoy the next few pics of our camping/boating trip

10/24/08

I'll title this post "Like Father Like Son" cause my boys a motorcycle racer!!! well aspiring to be and getting close anyway. My husband went to MI this past March and received his "Fastrax" liscence. Well Lil Chris applied and was 1 of 114 teens (13-16yrs old) selected to try out for the Red Bull Rookies Cup in Birmingham AL Oct 4-6. Out of approx 400 applicants. We went down he did awesome but unfortunately even though they were aware of and even selected him out of all those other kids knowing his size 6 ft 215 lbs he was informed that he was too big to race that series. It was a really tough thing to accept and keep my cool about but in the end he had fun, made some friends and it was an experience that was once in a life time. I am still very upset about how it was handeled and the affect it could have on my son.   On a brighter note when a fellow member of the localriders message board my husband and a son belong to heard of this he invited my son to attend a STT Mid-Ohio track day Oct. 16. Since my youngest was sick I wasn't able to tag along but there was a pro photographer there who got some pretty good shots. We will be purchasing these but I will post a few of the proofs. The guys who brought him up said he was really quick and has the potential to go far! Great confidence boost after the Red Bull(shit). So we now save to get him a bigger bike. He has a Ninja 250 but those are not competetive. He took my Ninja EX500 to the track but it held him back alot. So we are on the hunt for an SV650 and the funds to afford it :)  So next up pics!!! first are a few from Barber Motorsports Park where the Red Bull selection event took place and the proofs are from Mid-Ohio STT track day.  Enjoy
