I am a married mother of four. I have been overweight since I was 12 years old. I have been trying to have this surgery since 2000 (Insurance issues). I finally have an insurance provider that covers this procedure and I'm on my way. I will have surgery on the 5th of April.

Hi everyone. I'm taking a break from cleaning the house. As of today I have exactly one week until surgery. I had my pre-op testing yesterday and saw the anesthesiologist and I'm all set. Not nervous yet,just anxious to get to the other side and start living again. Since starting this process again I feel like I've literally been waiting to exhale. Well cleaning break is over time to get back to work.

Hi again.I made it thru and I'm home. The first few days were kind of hard. It got better daily. On the 15th I had my first post-op appt. and I'm happy to report that I am down 15.5 lbs. I don't see any difference but I'll take it.

I have just come from the dr. and I am down another 10 lbs. Not as much as I would have liked but at least it is still going down.

Hello, I went back too work today and had my company physical. I now weigh 256.0. Thats another 5.5 since my doctors appt on the 4th.

Tomorrow I will be 7 weeks out my home scale says 235.0. Hope its accurate.

Guess what I finally broke the evil plateau. Drumroll please. If my scale is correct I now weigh 221 or 222ish.

I had my 3 month appt. today I now weigh 228.0. I am down 60 lbs. As a reward I treated myself to a better scale. In addition to your weight it also tells your body fat. Best of all I weigh the same on it as I do at the dr's office. My old scale was always off.

Well I'm still losing, its not as fast as I would have liked but at least I'm still losing. I'm at 205.I now wear a size 13/14 and some 12's. I still can't believe it. I started my journey in tight 26's and 28's.I guess its going to take a while for me to get use to wearing smaller sizes and just being smaller in general. I have also had a lot of strange things happening on the homefront. My husband has taken to accompanying me pretty much wherever I go. He even calls me in the morning after I leave to go to work to make sure I get there. This has never happened before. I am also noticing changes in how other people treat me. For instance when someone speaks too me they look me directly in the eye not above my head or somewhere near me. Also people engage me in conversation w/o any effort on my part. Its like now that the weight is leaving I'm suddenly socially acceptable. Yesterday I was surrounded by a group of my male co-workers. They had nothing but compliaments. A sistas head was so big it could have floated away. I really had not had any feedback from the men at work, only my female co-workers. The womens reactions can be divided into two catagories. Those women who are thin or close to their ideal weight are very supportive and positive and encouraging. Those who are slightly or very overweight usually have something negative too say. They smile in your face and tell you your doing good and talk about you behind your back. I just take it in stride as no one other than my husband knows that I have had surgery. I also had an eye opening moment yesterday evening. I went to Catherine's for their big sale and realized that there was nothing in the store that I could wear as everything was too big.Well, hopefully by my next entry I will be below 200 lbs. I haven't been there in about 20 years.

I finally made myself step on the scale and what do you know a few more pounds gone. I'm at 202. Even with aunt Flo here. This rocks!!!

I weighed myself today and I'm at 199.4. I've been smiling all day. :) I can't believe it finally creeping below 200 lbs. I thought I'd never see the day.

While reading thru my profile I realized that I am 11.4 lbs away from the century club. Now I have another mini goal. Hopefully it won't take too long.

I hope everyone had a great thanksgiving. I now weigh 179lbs. I seem too be stuck and can't seem to get any lower. Sometimes I step on the scale and I have gained a pound or two, but usually in a couple of days I'm back at 179. I have set another goal for myself. I am trying to get down to 170lbs by christmas. We'll see how that goes. I seem to have found out who my real friends are. The last few weeks have been real eye openers. Mind you I haven't shared with anyone beyond my husband that I have had surgery, but the weightloss seems to bring out the worst in some people. Nuff said on that.

Hello everybody. I had a consult with a plastic surgeon yesterday. He doesn't see a problem with getting the tummy tuck approved, but we are keeping our fingers crossed about getting the girls lifted.As of this morning I now weigh 169.0 lbs. I still can't believe it. Needless to say I weighed myself several times before I was satisfied that the numbers weren't going to change. I don't necessarily look in the mirror and see the same heavy person, but I still think of myself as a large person at times and shy away from things before snapping myself out of it. It really does take a lot to get your head around the new you.Well til next time.

I found out yesterday that my breast lift and tummy tuck were approved. I am dancing around the house. I am also down 11 more lbs. I am going to try and get as much as possible off before surgery.I still cannot believe it. It really only took two days after my paperwork was submitted for the approval to come back.

I made it. I just realized that it has been a whole year since my re-birth. I feel soooo much better. I am also starting to get used to the new and much improved me. My confidence level is much improved. I am down to 148. Also my plastics are scheduled for May 4th at 7:00 in the morning. I can't wait.

Hello everyone. My plastics went as scheduled on the 7th. I was off from work for about 2 1/2 weeks. I came home with two drains . The first one came out about one week after surgery and the other one two days later I am still wearing the binder but everything is healing up nicely and so far I am pleased with the results and very happy that I did it. My surgeon also did a revision of my RNY scar.
It looks 100% better. Weight wise I am hovering between 140 and 141. Til next time.
