Half Way There and Cleaning my Closet Again!

Oct 14, 2007

I'm officially half way to goal now!  I average a 3 lb. loss per week.  I'm very happy with that.  I've now lost 60.5 lbs.  I pretty much do not stall, just slow and steady losses.  I had to clean out my closet again yesterday, there are too many clothes that are too baggy!  I'm making room for my new ones.  You won't believe this, but I just got in size 18's 2 weeks ago and now I'm in size 16!!  Time to shop!  It's almost my 4 month surgerversary so I will post new pictures soon.  Gotta get ready for my day now!

3 month check-up

Sep 17, 2007

Went in today for my 3 month check up with Dr. Lord.  I actually saw his associate, Dr. Freidman (sp?).  I have lost 49 lbs (darn that one pound!) and 36% of my excess weight!  I am right on target.  I remember at my 6 weeks appt he said "The next time you come in you should be down around 35-40% of your access weight loss."  He was right!  I get in 80 oz. of water per day and anywhere from 60-75 grams of protein. I am still riding my bike every day and try to get to the gym to do weight resistance training as well.  I'm more diligent with the biking than the weights.  I love, I mean LOVE riding my bike now!  I go with my kids and hubby, if he isn't working.  If he is at work, I still truck on with just me and my babies.  Jorah rides her own bike wonderfully and Jace is on my toddler carrier on the back of my bike.  He can ride his tricycle, but I won't let him ride his bike on our long bike rides.  He's content so long as I let him ride his trike once we get back.
On a side note, we enjoyed a great weekend with our very first camping trip!  We took our 6 person tent, screen tent, canopy, bikes and food and lived life well.  We even rented a canoe and rode around the bayou where we camped. See, you can even excercise on vacay!
Granted, the camp ground had showers and electricity, but I don't do "roughing it".  Life is good!

Bring on the compliments! Please. Pretty Please?

Sep 06, 2007

I posted this on the RNY forum, but want to put it here so that I can look back one day and have a laugh (I hope)...

How long before 'aquaintences' commented on your weight loss?  That is, the ones who did not know you had WLS.  I'm not complaining, but I've lost almost 50lbs and no one (that did not already know I had surgery) has said anything.  I recently got a new hair cut and I got FIVE compliments today on my hair, but I'm thinking, "HEY, anyone notice I lost a Nicole Ritchey here?"  Of course, I didnt say that - just smiled real big and thanked them.  And these are people that don't see me every day, so I was hoping for a bit more.  :::sigh::::
So....how long post op before you got complimented? I'm a sucker for compliments.

UPDATE:  A mere 3 days after posting this I received my first unsolicited compliment from someone who had no idea about my surgery.  Her exact words were, "WOW, you've lost A LOT of weight!"  I wonder if she has any idea how good she made me feel.

Bermuda, Bahama, Come on pretty mama....

Sep 04, 2007

I'm going on a cruise!!  Yes, the 2nd annual WLS Celebration Cruise that leaves Jax on January 31st, 2008.  I'll be bunkin' with Jenny R - how cool is that!?  My birthday is on Jan. 30th, so my DH said, "happy birthday, honey".  I know, awwwwwww.  I am so excited!  I get to meet several WLS buddies and enjoy the sights as well.  Does it get better than that?  Why yes, it does.  Did I mention I'll be weighing significantly LESS by the end of January?  Oh yeah, one hot Bahama Mama!!  I'm setting my goal now, in writing...by January 30th I want to be at 165 lbs.  I have no idea if I can possibly do that, but it's a goal anyway.  That is approximately 10 lbs per month.  I haven't been 165 in over 8 years!  And then it was only in passing.  Only 149 days left!

Cleaning out my closet!

Sep 02, 2007

I finally got here - to the place where it becomes necessary to clean out my closet.  I am down two sizes and I don't like wearing baggy clothes because they only make you look bigger.  I filled up a kitchen sized garbage bag!  Stuffed it to the brim!  Now I can't wait until the clothes I still have are too big!  I already had to go buy some new jeans - fall is coming!  I'm even buying clothes that are way too small (I'll get there one day).  Sometimes the sale is just too good to say no!  Oh, and I'm down another 3 lbs this week.  That makes 45 total!

2 month update

Aug 18, 2007

Today is my 2 month surgerversary!  I have put away my scale now and only get it out once a week.  The daily weigh-ins were driving me nuts.  My 2 month weigh-in today shows that I am down 14 pounds this month!  That's 38 lbs. total!  My new BMI is 37.9 - just "obese", no longer "morbidly obese"!!

Not really proud of this picture, but it will show my progress later in my journey.  I need a haircut.

incision update and wow moment

Aug 12, 2007

The incision thing....it's fine.  It turned out to be an abcess.  I saw Dr. Lord and he said he could either cut it open and drain it, or we could leave it alone and see if it clears up on its own (he said it usually does).  Duh, that was a no-brainer.  We left it alone.  That way I could still enjoy myself at the water park/amusement park we were leaving for soon.  It looks much better already and I haven't done a thing to it.  Thank goodness!

Now for my wow moment...
While we were at Wild Adventures I got in a seat on a roller coaster ride that I could not fit on last October!  Last year I had to move to the back seat on this ride because the seat belt was longer and could fasten.  It was embarrassing then, but luckily no one else was on the ride at that time.  This time it was packed.  I had to suck it in hard, but I fit!  I rode several more times just cause I COULD!

It was unbelievably HOT there and I know I sweated out at least 2 lbs.  Plus, I drank a TON of water. Can't wait to see the scale tomorrow, I've been without it for 4days now.  I'm going through withdrawals.
