Northwell Health South Shore Univ Hospital Bariatrics

"First of all, Southside Hospital opened a brand new Bariatric Center about a year ago and they are very attuned to the treatment of obesity. While thery are currently focusing on Gastric Bypass or Banding Surgery, they are also looking at other methods of treating this disease. The hospital itself was recently merged with one of the larger hospital systems on Long Island and is under renovation. In all of my dealings with anyone on staff at the hospital, I have found them to be courteous and extremely helpful."

Molave Adaniel

" I went to Dr. Adaniel because my first choice, Dr. Garber, had decided that he was no longer taking insurance. He came recommended by one of Dr. Garber's patients who had been attending Dr. Adaniel's support group. My first impression was that he was kind and sympatheic to my plight. My impression over time was that I made the right choice and that had I been given the choice again - he would have been my first and only choice. Despite the problems that arose, he and his staff were professional and compassionate in their handling them. His staff is friendly and efficient. They have quite a bit to do in order for you to get to the point of having surgery and sometimes they can be overwhelmed but they are always courteous and kind to their patients. There isn't anything I can say that I don't like about Dr. Adaniel. Future patients should know that he is starting to get very busy doing this type of surgery as his reputation gets know by bariatric patients. This may mean longer waiting time to see him or to be scheduled for surgery. I would say he is worth the wait. There definitely is a structured aftercare program. You are required to see the Dr. each month and also there are several support groups each month available to attend. Southside Hospital also has a bariatric center that is available for assistance. Dr. Adaniel was very specific when adressing the risks of the surgery and making patients understand that there were not guarantees (especially if one did not follow the aftercare program). Overall, without question, I would rate him an A+++++ I believe the idea would be both bedside manner and surgical competence to be equal but given the choice surgical competence would be more improtant. In this case there was no question that Dr. Adaniel had both."
