Obviously everyone is different - just trying to get an idea of what others have experienced.  I thought I would drop a good chunk the first few weeks after surgery but I haven't.  I'm two weeks out today and have barely lost anything. I go in for my follow up in a few days and will check with my doctor, just wondering how valid it is to be worried.

All the food pics, recipes and smells everywhere!!!! ARGH!  Five days out and it's just torture!  How do you deal with all this? There's just no escaping it!!

I had my surgery on 1/31 and was able to come home last night.  I did the RNY at Fair Oaks with Dr. Moazzez.  Really pleased with him and all the nursing staff. Very caring and knowledgeable.  I don't remember anything after they gave me whatever it was to relax me before taking me to the OR until I woke up in my room upstairs.  There was (is) pain in m abdomen, under my ribs and my shoulders.  Strong but not bad unless I was trying to sit up.  Pretty much slept all day yesterday and a good part of today.  I've been walkng and sipping.  Really hoping that thing about your tastes changing kicks in soon because these protein shakes are nasty!!!  Yuck!  Can't stand the aspartemate or stevia after tastes. 

So, I'm set up on a recliner in my living room.  This old thing gets passed around to whichever family member needs it. My daughter pulled in a little table for me to put my water, breathing exercise tube and stuff on.  It was very sweet. She kept asking me to be sure I could reach everything.  Trying to reach or stretch or anything that involves my torso hurts so I really appreciate it!!

Now comes the tough part!!  People kept asking me if I was scared about the surgery. Nope- had good doctor and staff.  I'm scared of what comes afterwards.  I've been a compulsive and emotional eater my whole life.  No idea how this will affect my depression either.  Had to change my medication so that combined with the loss of food -yikes!  Super scary!

Thanks again for everyone that contributes to this forum.  I've learned a lot and will be needing it a lot in the upcoming months!!
