WOW, I cant believe I passed my 1 year date already and I haven't typed anything since three months from that date, so now I am updating on my 15 months postop, better late than never I guess.. Life seems to get a little more busy when you lose your weight , I finally made my goal of 130lbs, I still can't believe it,someone pinch me. My mind sometimes still wants to think like a fat person, but I am working on that. I would have the surgery over again in a heartbeat, but I would never insist on someone else having it, because this is a decision you have to make for you alone.I have had no ill side effects except constipation. MY blood work has all come back at normal levels. That is a positive thing in itself. The vanity part of it is a bonus, but my health is what I was truly concerned with to begin with , and I am definately a lot more healthy. If anyone has qustions please email me....Tami

May31 - Surprise last supper with my friends!! June3 -last meal before preop, I ate it at 10pm so it would last me a while... June4- Started preop prep, clear liquids and that wonderful drink of phosphosoda, after that I was in the bathroom almost the whole day! June 5 - Antibiotic prep - 2 types/3 times today. June 6 - Rise and shine , surgery time was going to be at 11:00, but finally got into surgery at 3:00. It took about 4 hrs,I was in recovery 2 more hrs and in my room by 9:30. My liver was enlarged so they took a biopsy. It was along day for my family, but not for me I slept thru it all!! June 7 - When I woke up felt like a mac truck hit me, the morphine pump helped with the pain, my back hurt as bad as my abdoman. I was allowed to wet my mouth with a swab. They took me down for a leak test, the contrast you drink is awful, but praise the Lord no leaks were found!I I was then able to have 1 oz of water every hour. My husband stayed with me, he was such a blessing to be there when- ever I had a little or big need!! June8 - I got up and walked for the first time I had a low fever so they checked again for a leak test,Yuk. No leaks!! I began to eat clear liquids again. They removed foley catheter, much better to walk with- out it.(expect diarrhea when you think it is gas or you will have some accidents, OOPS!) June9 - I was able to go home today with JP drain still in, we live 2hrs20mins from my Dr. I was set to start my new lifestyle. June10 - Today is when reality sank in " What did I do to myself! I can't live like this without my food..." I cried a couple of times and my husband was there to comfort and encourage so was the rest of my family and friends! Postop depression can happen.... June14 - I had my JP drian out, it felt like an air bubble popping, I was weighed for first time postop. I LOST 20 LBS! I was allowed on full liquids, then pureed. This is such a psychological fight,I was not hungry but my head was, learning the difference is a battle within itself! July14 - 1 month post op ( actually 5 weeks)I weighed 226, so I have LOST 36 lbs.I feel pretty good ,but a litle tired. My food dependency is slowly going away, Yippee!!I still am having trouble eating to fast, I have to learn to take it slow. So far I can handle everything I have tried even dairy products, and I am staying away from sugar. I have felt nauseated, but I have not vomited(thank goodness). At this time I take 2 Flint- stone chewables,Iron,B-12,VitC, and 2 Tums for Calcium . I am now allowed to eat solid foods and add new foods to my diet as I can tolerate them...
