Medical Center East

Amanda Jackson

"The class provided lasted approx 90 minutes. In that time, the information I gained was excellent. Amanda (although she has never had a weight problem) has had family members who have had the surgery. She really makes you understand the cans and can'ts that you will be facing for the 1st 3 months."

Les Miles

"FINALLY got to see the doctor..Had a 6 week wait to get an appointment. When I arrived at the office, the staff was great. Dr. Miles was running a little late and they kept us informed. When I was called into the back..I was weighed (oh yuck), blood pressure taken and basic alleries and medications discussed with the nurse. Dr. Miles came in and was very pleasant. He asked what kind of research I had done. He asked if I needed a preview of the surgery. I told him that I had been researching for about 5 months and had seen documentaries of surgeries, etc. He sat down and said "I am here for as long as you need me--let's talk". We covered the pros and cons of the surgery and I decided this was going to be my surgeon. He can make you feel comfortable. He makes sure you know that there are REAL dangers and could be complications--but he is very experienced.. Went to see the insurance clerk and she was GREAT..I will have to get her name... We have scheduled the lab/x-rays, nutrition class and psy evaluation. Then we see an internist in June..Dr. Miles said the surgery should take place in about 10 weeks. Will update when I know more. FYI**The psy that is used by Dr. Miles does not bill your insurance..They will give you the paperwork to send in yourself....The visit price is $375.00"
