"1/6/2004: Had my first meeting with my surgeon, he was a trip. People say he is mean, but you just have to understand where he's coming from. This surgery is serious business, and he pulls no punches about the dangers. In my case it's a no brainer, have the surgery or die (Duh!). He gave me the "You can exercise 3 days a week BUT you also can only eat 3 days a week" speech. I did see him almost smile a couple of times. He challenged me to get to a healthier weight to avoid Post-Op Complications, and I gave him my word that I would. "
