Hello all. Just thought I'd write a little about my hospital experience. Actually It was no where near as painful this time. My surgeon used a marcaine ball. This infused marcaine, novicaine like drug, right into my incision. I couldn't believe it when I woke up. Of course there was pain but nothing like before. I still had a morphine pump so I really didn't suffer much at all. As a matter of fact it hurt much worse when I got my second drain tube removed about a week postop, that pain remained for a few days. But all in all my pain was very tolerable and I'm a total baby when it comes to pain...Ask for that marcaine ball.......I was in ICU for 1 day, not even 24 hours actually, Then was released 4 days postop. Really didn't have complications except for my left lung collasped a little bit at the bottom. Really gotta do those deep breathing exercizes. I only had one fit of crying which is pretty good for me as well. Last time I was inpatient for a week and cried the whole time almost. I guess the anitdepressants I take helped with the anesthesiology effects, cool. As far as the hospital, their equipment left much to be desired, a lot of broken and ill working stuff. Hopefully it's not like that in the OR. Everyone was great though, very nice bunch of nurses ect... My preop weight was 310.5, my discharge weight was 310.8, I actually gained and lost 8 lbs while I was in. My first appointment was may 23 weight 294, on may 25 293 and may 30 292. Doesen't seem like much that last week but I know that it will even out, besides that was the week aunt flo visited, lol. I'm not scheduled to go back to the surgeon until june 28, I know that I won't be able to wait til then to weigh, luckily he's right here in town so I plan to stop by and weigh in on the 14, my one month anniversary. Foods have been going pretty well, I don't think that I have dumped yet. I have had diahhrea but I'm told that this is because I had my gallbladder removed, hopefully that will subside soon. I made some home made lemon aid using splenda, it tased wonderful, but it did kinda hurt so I decided to wait a couple weeks to try that again. I can't say that I've eaten perfectly, I have snacked a little on some goldfish snack crackers, a few key lime tostitos, and some beef jerkey and some frozen fruit bars. I look at the jerkey as a good protein source and the fruit bars as fruit since I really can't stand much canned fruit. At any rate I don't beat myself up about it because I'm just starting and it's very hard to change liftime habits overnight. Besides I know how much healthier I am eating now and hardly any sugar or fat.....So here I start my journey.
