Hi Everyone, Just wanted to let you all know that I am doing good - each day is better and I am thankful that I made it to the other side without any complications other than the pain of the actual surgery. Thank goodness for the morphine pump! I did have a reaction to the morphine - it made me itch and so each time I pressed the pump I had to have a benadryl shot - by the time I left the hospital, I looked like a pin cushion. My stay in ICU was wonderful, the nursing staff was great - it felt like I was in a great hotel! In my opinion, the nurses don't get enough credit for all that they do! Shout out to the nurses at South San Francisco Kaiser! My surgeon, Dr. Gorrin, did a great job too! My incision doesn't look as bad as I thought it would. Now I have good days and I have not so good days - some days I feel like I could run a marathon and other days, just drying off after my shower takes all my energy - I just need to learn to balance what all I do. When I talked to my angel Joy, she told me that it sounded like I was trying to do too much - so this week I have definitely slowed down, but I keep thinking I should do more. When I hear of others doing so much more, you can't help but compare yourself to them, which I know we should not do. But this is a learning process and each day brings its own challenges. Sorry this post is so long, but I just wanted to stop by and say "I'm back and I made it" and to give thanks to all of you who kept me warm in their hearts, especially my angel Joy ~ Until next time, take care of yourselves ~ Venus
