"His stitching was superb. Unfortunately, 6 weeks after having the pannis removed and hernia repair, I was in an automobile accident. THe accident caused the hernia work to be undone. Several months later I went back to have this repaired and get my arms done. THe arms were great. THe hernia re-repair got infected and I was sick from 2/9/2003 thru 5/1/2003. I had an open wound from 3/1 until 4/21. I think the problem is with the antibiotics and the bypass operation. I don't believe we absorb medicines as someone who never had WLS. The doctors don't seem to understand us. During one of the hospital stays to get the infection under control, I was visited by an infectious disease doctor and we discussed my hypothesis. He thought it had some merit, but was unsure of how to help. Antibiotics via IV seemed to do the trick."

Daniel Dempsey

"After being turned down by another Philly area doctor, Dr D didn't seem to have any problems with my weight or physical problems. Some in my support group met him and thought he didn't spend much time with them. I felt there was enough, since I've been reading up and attending meetings. Office staff - Barbara is great. 4/18/02 - after 1 year, I met with Dr Dempsey's new Nurse Practitioner. She has indicated that Temple Hospital is making significant changes in their treatment of bariatric patients. THey are trying to get a special area of the hospital for us and want to have more aids that would help us, since not all our needs are nurse related. I related some of the problems I had last year to her - bed was old crank type and couldn't sit up by myself. She indicated they have now purchased special beds for WLS patients. I also indicated that I had only 1 sponge bath for the 5 days I was there and went home with my back around my waist scratched raw from the itching. That's where she feels the aids will be of more help. Still say, Dr D is a great surgeon, has a nice bedside and office manner."

Charles Kish

"I was his first WLS patient and he now has 3-4 of us. He is great, and you don't have to wait for hours when you have an appt."

Temple University Hospital

"Considering that I had an open RNY, the bed was the old fashioned hand crank type; got limited help from nursing staff, received 1 sponge bath from Wed to Sunday; hospital did not seem equipped for obese patients. In spite of the hospital, I've lost a lot of weight which is the real reason for going there!"

Ronald Lohner

"Great PS. Not very agressive in going for insurance coverage. Two years after the breast reduction with Lohner, I'm not as pleased as I was initially. I have lumps of necrotic fat (?). Occasionally, I have pain."
