Edwin Gaar

"Ihave changed doctors! I have a date on 6/29/01. I could not get a appt. with Shina before the surgery. "Thats not something we do" I was told. If they dont want to waste an hour on me before surgery they can find another patient and I found another Doctor. Susan was nice at Dr. Gaar's. Was given Appt. on June 18th and surgery was scheduled for June 29th. Can't beat that. Met Dr. Gaar. He explained everything to my husband and myself about the operation. Very caring and concern for his patients. To top it all off he actually attended the support group at Norton Pavillion tonight. He will only do the operation on people that need the operation. He told us of all the risks. He has not lost a RNY patient and and plans on NOT making me the first. What a guy! Was very impressed that he attended the support group meeting, and will be back next month. Less than 2 weeks yeah. Will see the doctor in 2 days last visit before surgery. Dr. Gaar did a great job and was faced with decisions to make with my life in his hands I agree with and respect the decisions he made in the middle of my surgery. He has a great bedside manner. I would highly recomend him to any patient but, but have found out he is closing his practice and not seeing any new patients. He will be teaching at Veterens Hosp in Louisville. WLS has lost a great Doctor, But many good Dr.s may be trained by him for future patients."
