It is the end of August and I am soooo happy that I went through with this surgery. My open RNY was on July 9th and I was blessed with no complications. In seven weeks I have lost a total of 65 pounds and have a great deal of energy. I am eating about 50 ounces of protein a day and very little carbs. I cheat once in a while with a bite of a cookie or cake. I don't want to find out if I can tolerate sugar...that could lead to being a very bad thing. Life is great...new job, children in a great school, happy family life. I want to thank everyone for being so supportive, especially in the beginning when I wasn't sure if I was going to go through with it or not. I felt that way the day of surgery when I was on the operating table. The last thing I remember is "I can't fit on this table (it was before they put the sides up) ..I still have time to back out." Thank god they put me out when they did because I was a nervous wreck and there was no telling what I may have done. All I know is I was ready to get up and run for the door. Almost two months later I read the posts and can very much relate to those having surgery soon. Mostly everyone has these nervous feelings...its natural. God bless.

Hello, I had my surgery on the July 9th also. I am still a little achy but doing pretty good. I have lost 36 lbs so far. And I get the dry heaves often. I was wondering how you was doing?

Congratulations! We had our sugery on the one day apart from each other. I am glad that you made it home so quickly, I had to stay for 4 days. I am already down 13lbs. How are you doing? By the way I have a good soup for you while you are on liquids only. Its called Lipton cup of soup-Cream of chicken. It comes in a box with several packets of powder that you just add water to. I promise it is the tastiest broth/liquid! My kids even beg me for bites of it, I finally had to make them some for lunch yesterday so that they would leave mine alone. Keep me updated on your progress. Good luck and a quick recovery to you!
