Hi Nicole: I am sheryl in NM. I had open rny in July and I am glad I did. It took longer to heal and longer to get back on my feet but it worked out good for me. I decided this because I had a lot of weight to loose and i needed to be able to get most of it off. since preparing for surgery I have lost 160 lbs and that is 1/2 my excess weight already. I still have about 160 to loose yet. I know I will be able to get my weight back to almost normal by the end of the next year and a half. I about 5 months I will have my hernia surgery and my first tummytuck and i cant waite. I hope this helps you. Sheryl open RNY July 22, 2002 516/453/360/160
