Ronda, that isn't fair that your husband is doing this to you. He should be happy and supportive for you. It sounds like he is being selfish. This surgery is most definately NOT THE EASY WAY OUT. It is insulting that he would even say that. Is he aware of everything you have to give up to have this surgery? I wish you the best but right now, I don't like what your husband is doing to you.

Rhonda, hang in there. Don't give up on your dreams. You can never make any one but yourself happy. What others think is just their deal. I'm sure your husband is afraid of losing you and if that's not it, then he'll either adjust to the new you or he won't. We go through our whole lives seeking approval from other people and forget that how we feel about ourselves is the most important thing. God love you girl. You'll get your new birthday.

Rhonda-I am very sorry and very irritated that your husband threatens to leave if you go thru with this surgery. He must have some major insecurities, this would be understandable, concerns about your health, etc. However, if he really loves you, he will come to understand you must not hold your loved one hostage. People must grow individually even as they grow in marriage. If he is concerned for your health and is afraid something will take you from him, have him talk to your doctor about what he can expect for your health in the future if you remain obese. If he is insecure that you will leave him after surgery, he must not understand what love is; you need to talk to him frankly. If he still cannot support you, please remember you have to do what is best for yourself and he will have a decision to make. If he chooses to leave you, he did not love you the way one should be loved anyway. Good luck woman.

Ronda, I am so sorry that you don't have the support from your family that you need right now. You have it here! I haven't told most of my family yet. My DH, son, pastor and one sister knows, but no one else. I am not ready to tell them yet. I understand a little of what you are going through. Not all of my family will be supportive of MY decision. But, it is MY decision and I have to do this for ME and my husband and son. I want to be around to see my son grow up!! Hang in there and do what you have to do.

Hi Rhonda! I just read your post and it breaks my heart that your family is so cruel. It's been said that "Friends are the family you choose for yourself" so find some supportive WLS friends, even if it's only on-line. Congratulations on your new baby! I was a miserable pregnant woman too, gained 60 lbs, but lucky not to have complications (other than being miserable!). Hang in there! Beverly

HEY RHONDA YOU HANG IN THEIR GIRL I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING MY MOM AND FAMILY AND FRIENDS ALL LOOK AT ME LIKE I AM DUMB FOR WANTING THIS THEY SAY WHAT IF YOU DIE TO BE THIN-DUHHHH ITS NOT ABOUT BEING THIN AS MUCH AS HEALTHY!!!! MY HUBBY IS 100% SUPPORTIVE AND FOR THAT I AM GRATEFUL DONT GIVE UP!!! YOU CAN DO THIS

ronda know that this site has thousands of people that have suffered for years everyinsult that you can think of and beem put down by family and friends well hon we are here to help in any way we can and we will keep you in our prayers too

Rhonda ~ I understand what you're going through. A dear friend of mine is going through the process with me and everyone was in support of her decision when she first told them, but, when she actually got approved, her mother said "I could box your ears for letting yourself get this way!" Now, what's up with that?? Luckily, my friend has a very good handle on it and she understands that her mother's problem is just that: her mother's problem. It's your life...don't give up on it, don't question your worth in fighting for it, and understand that others have their own reasons for reacting the way they do. And if they have a problem...let 'em have it and move on. (I'll quit preaching now :0))
