Patrick Barbier

"Dr. Barbier is such a great guy. He's a great cheerleader for weight loss patients. He's very supportive of WLS and he is also very interested in the aftercare. While he admittedly didn't have a lot of experience with Gastric Bypass, he's very interested in the whole process and has, since I've had my surgery, been keeping up with the new information about the procedure and has helped other patients through the process. It seems to be pretty much across the board that MANY healthcare providers don't know a whole lot about the surgery. This is articularly evident in emergency room personnel. A patient in need of ER care has to be very specific about having the surgery and in many cases, has to educate the attending Dr. on their needs as a patient. Once a dr. finds out you've had the surgery, they're usually very interested and will ask many questions."

Sheldon Randall

"Dr. Randall is the BEST! He truly cares about his patients and he is supportive beyond belief. Once he meets you, he never forgets a name, always gives you a hug and is truly interested in whatever it is that you are telling him at any particular time. Dr. Randall tells you like it is! He doesn't sugar-coat anything. If you really don't want to know the honest answer to a question...don't ask! HAHA! He's your biggest cheerleader and your most honest critic all in one. He's fabulous! He runs a monthly support meeting for anyone at all who's interested in surgery or who's had surgery. He alsways has a relevant speaket and he stays to answer any questions people have. He is very honest about ALL aspects of the surgery and he takes the time to explain the risks of the procedure as well as the benefits. I've honestly not had a single negative experience with Dr. Randall, so I can't even give a "heads up" on something for a perspective patient to be concerned about. Although there is a waiting list for an appointment, I would recommend that if anyone has the opportunity to have Dr. Randall as their surgeon...go for it! You'll be so incredibly happy that you did!"

Lawrence Memorial Hospital

"While there were a couple of nurses and other staff (physical therapy, dieticians) that were really nice and would help when needed, there were far more staff members who didn't seem all that interested. Most of the assisting staff doesn't speak english, so communication was difficult. I had been warned of this problem by other people who had their surgery at Lawrence Memorial, so it wasn't a complete surprise. "
