"Met with Dr. Tenaka of PACIFIC BARIATRIC on August 31, 2000. My first impression of him was that he was very " matter-of fact. " He explained the risk of gastric bypass well. Dr. Tenaka also emphasized that gastric bypass is utilized as a tool to help control weight, but dietary regimen will be the most important factor, in addition to regular exercise for long-term success. Dr. Tenaka said that i was an " easy" candidate for the Laprascopic R en Y , as determination has to do with body type and no previous abdominal surgeries. I hear is is a ' very good surgeon.' I like the fact that Dr. Tenaka is in a practice with 5 other general surgeons that also perform bariatric surgery. I feel conifident in Dr. Tenaka to perform my gasric bypass surgery. I have peace of mind knowing that if he needs to consult with collegues regarding my case
( if there are complications ) , he has 5 in his practice close by.
As far as the Office staff at Pacific Bariatric goes, they are friendly. They can be slow in processing paperwork sometinmes
( Insurance request, charts to doctors and surgery scheduling). Like one of HMO coordinators in the office said, " we process hundreds of charts . " When you show concern about the length of time in processing, they will just day ,
" this is the way the office works. "
Apparently this is one of the
"DISADVANTAGES" of going with a Larger Bariatric group.
Overall, I rate Pacific Bariatric as,
"better than average" due to their collective approach and aftercare program. I would not change physicians, or practices. I feel they meet the needs for the patient seeking/undergoing gastric bypass surgery. "
