Allan Huffman

"I had my first appointment with Dr. Huffman on April 18th. I was so happy to be there! Everything went well. Renee, Dr. Huffman's assistant, is very informative, answers all your questions, and has a very pleasant manner. Dr. Huffman made everything clear from the beginning. He tells you the good, the bad, and the ugly! There should be no surprises after surgery. He is thorough and asks you to wait 3 to 4 weeks to think this over, talk it over with your family, and come back with full knowledge of what the outcome could be and what it will hopefully be. He said that the aftercare is as important as the surgery and the follow-up is forever, not just for awhile. I would recommend him to anyone. The office staff were very nice, although the insurance person did not want to deal with the approval until after my next visit. She also said it might be 6 to 8 MONTHS before they approved the surgery. (Medicare/Medicaid) I really think and hope that she is a little off base. Everything I have read on Medicare's approval of this surgery has been approval after first notification. I attended the support group last night after my appointment. There was over 100 people there. That, in itself, tells you a lot about the surgeon. He does not attend. He said he wants people to feel free to discuss his care, practices, and their feelings without being inhibited by his presence. Renee is the facilitator and she does a super job. I met some wonderful people. Some had their surgery several months ago. Some had met their goals and already had reconstructive surgery, due to meeting that goal so quickly. Some were just 4 weeks post-surgery and willing to share their problems and ask for advice. Others were like me, just impatiently waiting."
