Today is my one year anniversary of my open RNY. I am down to about 172. Up a few pounds since my last post. Good reason for this as I am 3 months pregnant with our second child. As of late I am re-thinking the surgery. Seem to be having a few problems not related to the pregnancy. Did so well the first 9 months post op that I am disappointed that NOW I am having problems. Still, I am happy, most days, for having done it.

Happy ONE Year Anniversary to You! I hope that this post finds you healthy and happy. Please remember to drop by and update your profile from time to time. It's important for others to be able to see how we post-ops do on our journeys. You never know who you might inspire. Have a great day.

Not much of a poster, more of a lurker these days. Today is my 9 month anniversary of an Open RNY. All is well and life is great. I started out at 300 lbs, size 30/32. Today I am down to 163 and wearing a 12/ 14. I don't ever remember wearing something that size besides underwear ! I have had no complications from this surgery and my recent blood work all came back withing normal limits. I also have Multiple Sclerosis and have had a few set backs from that horrible disease. My doctors agree that it is more than likely the stress to my body from losing so much weight, so fast. I am scheduled for an abdominoplasty on August 1 but my husband and I have tentatively agreed to "try" for another baby. Our daughter is almost 2 and we really would like another baby. We have been truly blessed in our lives and want to share our love and happiness with another child. I will try to update more often but no promises. Looks like I am going to be "busy"!

I am home from the hospital and am 6 days post op Open RNY and doing great! I had a wonderful "textbook" surgery according to my surgeon. No drains, no leaks, and not much pain. I did spend 24 hours in ICU/ Trauma which is my doctors protocol. I could not get an epidural due to my Multiple Sclerosis so went with the MS PCA and and Demerol Injections in between if needed. The second day post op I made 6 laps in the hall and really felt quite good. I'm home now and on clear liquids. I never thought broth could tast so great. I am a little sore and taking pain meds every 6 hours or so. I believe the hardest part of the whole process was being away from my 13 month old daughter. The minute she saw me when I came home she wanted "up, mommy." It is very hard to try and get her to understand why mommy can't bend over and pick her up. I want to thank my angel Dawn Kingsbury for the encouragment and the help she has been to me the past month or so. She is a very sweet person and I am thankful to have found her as a friend. I am truly blessed to be on the "loosing" side now and I pray every day that I will be able to use this tool for what it meant for. Thanks to all for your support and encouragment.

Kelly is doing wonderfully, being 3 days post-op. I am tickled to report she is walking as much as she can, has gotten her NG tube out, and looks like she'll be going home on Sunday. She will still be resting up but her mom will be around to care for her... Angel signing off...

** ^j^ ** Angel Update Hi Everyone - Kelly Heise is 1 day post-op and doing as well as can be expected :-) She has been up walking "laps" on her floor, and even was ordered to "slow down" by her DH. <G> She is still in lots of pain, but according to her hubby is 100% better than yesterday... she is having some trouble with fluid accumulating in her lungs and needs to cough (ouch) to keep things working; she uses the pillow over the incision to ease the pain there... I praise God on her behalf that she is doing as well as can be expected, and if all continues to improve steadily she can expect to go home Sunday!! This angel's job has been very easy and for that I am grateful ^j^ PLEASE offer Kelly words of encouragement that I can send to her once she's home and wondering if this was the right thing to do... peace and joy to all :-)

** (/) ** Happy Angel Hovering - Kelly has successfully come through her surgery!! Yay!! She is in a LOT of pain; while she knew it was to be expected she said it's still unlike any other pain she's had before... Her dr. said the procedure was flawless (yeah, well, ok, it was HIS work <G>) at any rate, she is waiting for her meds to kick in and her hubby is by her side... Will report more as it becomes available...
