Kevin Krause

"Dr. Krause was calm, well informed, polite, and explained things in a way I could understand. I liked him from the start. After surgery, I realize how talented and caring he is. Dr. Krause makes sure his patients have supports in place. This means that different patients have different ways of dealing with this aspect of their care. In my case, I am working with Northpointe Health Center (Dr. Doyle). They are on 12 Mile road in Berkley, Michigan and monitor my blood work, provide nutritionist consultations, and even offer psychologists for support services. It is one of the largest medically supervised weight loss facilities and they do a great job. Dr. Doyle is conservative and made sure I tried all the avenues before surgery, but he was supportive of the surgery decision. I don't think I would have done this without his approval and encouragement. He is definately a person you can trust. Dr. Krause (surgeon) was so highly recommended! Nurses all said he was "magical" with the scope and that he would be their first choice as a surgeon. Plus he had done many, many of these operations. After having had surgery I can laugh and tell others that Dr. Krause could laproscopically knit a cardigan inside me if he had the desire. Having this done laprascopically worked very well for me. Dr. Krause explained the risks in full detail and also explained why he prefers the laprascopic technique. The risk of infection and infection related complications is lower and the healing time is faster. I would rate Dr. Krause as the most talented and easy-going surgeon I have ever known. He has really changed my life and saved me from diabetes, ulcers in the esophagus, high blood pressure, etc. This man is one of the great talents in bariatric surgery. Finally, I should say that Dr. Krause is easy to talk with and more importantly he is there for you if anything seems wrong. I had a problem after getting home and called his office. Dr. Krause called me back right away and made room for me to see him right away. I believe this took place because the doctor is patient oriented and the staff was both professional and caring. About five weeks after surgery the stoma closed up on me. Dr. Krause made sure that I had excellent care and Dr. Jury expanded the stoma. To top it all off, after my primary care doctor had trouble getting the approval for work on the stoma...Dr. Krause again went to bat for me and together with Dr. Jury got my endo re-scheduled for the same day so I did not have to wait and suffer. They even helped the insurance people understand why this was necessary which led to Blue Choice altering their position and agreeing to pay for post-surgical care and any complications at the tier 1 level. Having a doctor with supurb surgical skills is essential, but in this case I also got a doctor I could understand and who spoke to me in plain language. I got one who cares and listens. It may sound foolish, but there are people in this life who do the work of angels...and the doctors and medical staff that have helped me are certainly on that list. I was very lucky to have Dr. Krause as my surgeon and recommend him highly. Right now there is a substantial wait to see him as a new patient. The demand for his time and talent is tremendous but so are his abilities. To those waiting, I guess you need to determine the risk of waiting for this level of care. If critical issues are life threatening then do what needs to be done now. But if you can wait to see Dr. Krause you will be delighted with the care he provides. "

William Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak

"My concerns are that they forgot to maintain my medications while I was recovering. I went into withdrawl after leaving the hospital. There was also a sore on my back/butt and I think it was from having the surgical padding under me for 2 1/2 days. They should have caught both those errors, so I recommend having someone alert stay with you at any hospital as these types of problems are getting more and more common in medicine (especially as staff levels are reduced)."
