Good Samaritan

"Generally a nice hospital. I would have no qualms about using it again. However, I would encourage people to take a friend or relative with them so that hour-to-hour needs can be met."

Ann Link

"Ann is very good at the support group meetings and is very prompt about returning phone calls."

Dan Downey

"Dr. Downey did two emergency surgies on my mom after she developed a three-year infection after back surgery. The only reason my mom's infection resolved was due to the skill and persistence of this physician. They finally had to remove the hardware from her back. He spent several hours carefully closing her fragile skin (my mother is obese), working with already scarred tissue. I'm pre-op but if after my surgery I had the chance to have Dr. Downey do plastic surgery I'd do it in a heartbeat. In fact, if or when I get to that place, I'll ask him for recommendations."

Robert Poole

"I thought that Dr. Poole displayed appropriate professionalism, warmth, and concern for those contemplating wls. He clearly explained his purpose in the process. He shared the scores of the eating behavior inventory and MMPI in a way that was easy to understand. He made clear suggestions for the remainder of my pre-op time and offered to help in the future should I require it."

Shelia Mitchell

"I've been one of Dr. Mitchell's patients off and on since 1993. She is a wonderful person who is very open to a variety of modalities. In 2001 she opened her own practice and shares that practice with a naturopath, acupunturist, nurse practioner, and massage therapist. Her office includes a classroom area where yoga and other classes are offered. Dr. Mitchell did everything to help me get gastric bypass surgery approved; however, when I changed to PacifiCare for my insurance company I had to change primary care doctors. Dr. Mitchell encouraged me to make this change because the surgery is more important for my health than the my PCP. "

Paul Dally

"02/05/02 My husband, Alan, and I had a very productive visit with Dr. Dally. He had a few questions about my application (their practice requires that you complete a fairly extensive questionaire). He then explained all the surgical options and explained why he and Dr. Cagle have choose the Roux-en Y laproscopic procedure. I had done a lot of research and it is clear that the program they have put together is both comprehensive and conservative. They have a five-year after care program and both pre- and post-op support groups. They've done 80+ surgeries in the past two or so years and all the patients have lost a significant amount of weight. As with any bariactic surgery, several people suffered complications but all are doing well now. He stated that when he finished his residency and came to Washington, he wanted to start offering this surgery but this time wasn't ripe. He's been in practice here for over 15 years and put together this program about three years ago. I found him to be top rate. He wrote up an excellent summary of our consultation and submitted the next day to my insurance company (Providence of Oregon, Personal Options). Unfortunately, Providence has denied this request due to "exclusion," so I will go through the appeal process. I am looking forward to working with Dr. Dally and his team going forward and am keeping a positive outlook about the insurance approval after appeal(s)!"
