"All the nurses and staff were wonderful! They talked me through my tough moments, and they really showed that they cared for me as a person, not just another patient! The accomodations were all made for obese patients. I had a large private room which the Center requests for all the gastric bypass patients. Each room has a wider bed than regular hospital beds. It is a trapeze bed that has handles to help you get in and out of bed much more easily after your surgery. My room had 2 regular chairs, a very nice recliner that I used a lot, and a couch for visitors so you could have several visitors at a time. One week after I was home, I got a card from my 4th floor nurses. They even wrote little notes by their signatures. Now that's something I've never received from any other hospital!! If I ever have to stay in a hospital again, I will definitely request St. Joseph East Hospital!! "
