Hi Carol...be kind to yourself. You're dealing with a lot of stuff and you're quitting cigarettes at the same time. I think you're entitled to feel crappy. Remember that feelings are just visitors, they come and go. Just because you feel this way TODAY doesn't mean you are doomed to feel this way FOREVER. I am on the patch and taking Zyban to quit smoking and even with those tools, I still feel like I want to smoke sometimes. Best of luck...with the cigs and everything else.

Carol, if you go to my profile, I have lots written about my bout with quitting smoking. I stopped on Aug 17th this year and havnt smoked since and my surgery is set for Dec 17th. I figured that would give me 4 months to clean myself up before surgery. Its the best thing I ever did for myself. I was a 3 pack a day smoker of MENTHOL for 27 years, so If i can do it, you can do it too! Its just a matter of making up your mind!!!!! Good luck and write me if ya need to chat! {hugs}|

10/25/02 I just got a phone call from the surgeons office, there was an error made when they scheduled me to see the surgeon. First, he is brand new to the facility and not seeing bypass patients yet. Second, they don't see patients for consult until they have gone through the orientation class (the next one is in February) and the waiting list is six months long. I actually feel better about this; I was very uncomfortable and feeling rushed. This way the newness of the idea can settle in and I can face reality a little more before being sure about my decision.

CAROL~~ BEST WISHES ON YOUR WLS JOURNEY~~ About Angels~~ ANYONE can be your angel- they don't even have to be a member of the site (a spouse, friend or family member). If you want someone from the AMOS site, it doesn't have to be someone from your area, but I always take into account time zones when I'm volunteering.....

Carol, welcome! Do your research. Find out all you can. Check out the site called Duodendal Switch.com It's one form of wls.You know your daughter well, so I would follow my instincts. Unless you've been obese, its hard to totally understand, despite their best intentions.Waiting is a good idea. Certainly wait at least untill you have some good concrete evidence and not just your depth (and very real)emotion.Good luck.Leslie e.

Hi Carol.....my name is Carol too! Welcome to AMOS (Association for Morbid Obesity Support)! You'll love this site and all the warm, caring people here. It's also great for information and getting your questions answered, etc. My only advice is, do research and then do more research! There are many different kinds of WLS (weight loss surgery) and your choice is a personal thing. Best of luck on your journey to weight loss and a healthy life style. HUGS! Carol Percel
