Susan, the reason to not drink 30 minutes before eating is so that your pouch isn't full and you can eat enough to get the nutrition you need and the reason for not drinking for 30 minutes after you eat is so that you don't wash the food through the pouch too soon, making you feel hungry too soon. Having a popsicle while you are drinking is no big deal - it is basically liquid. I don't have popsicles until thirty minutes after I eat but I do have them while I'm drinking. You are doing just fine.

Susan, your success will be the best reassurance you can give your mom. I know: I had the exact same experience with mine! 14 months later, she will tell anyone who asks that it was the best thing I ever did!
