There is a fear that the frequency used by analog cellular phones will interfere with some hospital equipment. There are no studies that prove this, just a fear. Most hospitals now allow digital cellular phones because they operate in a different manner. (Most hospitals maintenance crews use 12 watt portable radios. Analog cellular phones only use 1/10 watt.
