Happy Anniversary!!!!

Hi A M. I was in the same boat as you. I'm 4 weeks out and for 2 weeks right out of the hospital, I didn't loose 1 lb in that time. I recieved an e-mail from a couple who best explained it. 25% of wls patients loose little or no weight for the 1st month. As these others have told me the 1st month is about healing. The body is in shock and is doing what it can to heal it's self. Just give it time to heal and when your body relizes that is all the calories it gets for the day, then you'll see the weight come off. I wasn't aware of this. But now going on 4 weeks out my weight loss has kicked in and now in 5 days I have lost 8 lbs. As long as you get in all your protein and all your water(64oz+) you will soon see a change. When I wasn't even loosing the weight, I noticed my arms and legs were becoming thin. Why there was no weight loss with this I don't know. So measure your upper and lower arms, and your upper and lower legs. Check in a week and see if ther is a difference. Even without me measuring them I could see a difference just by looking at them. Kind of exciting. But I know how you feel when everyone else has any where from 15 to 50 lbs gone the 1st few weeks. Keep us posted so we know how you are doing. So let yourself heal and enjoy the next few months as the weight does come off.

A M I read your post in the message board about your Aunt..sounds like my family. You can't tell ONE of them anything. I'm like you with keeping this on the low low, because I dont want to hear all the insults, and negative talking. I told my mom and dad, and I know it's gonna get out, but u know what sis...IT DONT EVEN MATTER NO MORE..keep your head up and know that you did this for YOU not anyone else. FORGET WHAT THEY SAY..and I also learned that MISERY LOVES COMPANY!! So, you continue to be blessed, and know that NO WEAPON FORMED AGAINST YOU SHALL PROSPER...now THAT'S word!! God Bless you sis!!! A M Hang in there things do get better daily, I had pains for almost 2 months post-op the Dr, reassured me everything was of and that it was residula bruising from the way they clap us open during surgery and all the digging around in there while they are re routing us..... the pain did go away..... but of course if in doubt please go see your DR. Foods.... what can I say things did taste different for a while too and infact still @ 6mo post-op some foods i shy away from because they just don't taste good to me.... but to me it is a small price to pay for the positives I have recieved since having my WLS. Hang in there the journy is truly amazing! hugs and God Bless Maureen

Congratulations on making it to the losing side and making it home. Hopefully that nagging pain in your side will gone before you know it. Just remember to take it one day at a time and don't rush it. I will be praying that your recovery is speedy. Best wishes to you as you continue on your journey.

Hi everyone, I wanted to let you guys know I am home and resting. I have to let you know that I am practically in tears right now because of all the love and support shown to me by my AMOS brothers and sisters. Your love support and prayers are pushing me through. Special thanks to my angels Walter Newsome, Pam Howard, Donita Harris, Irish Fowler Elle Felts and Linda M. Extra big hugs to Pam for giving me hugs when I needed them most and for walking the halls with me at 4 am. I don't have an appetite for anything and everything that I eat tastes strange to me. Any suggestions on something flavorful and healthy that I may enjoy? I'll post more about my experience later but my energy at this point is zapped and I've had pain in my right side for the last couple of days that is irritating to me. I'm waiting anxiously to have my tube removed Tuesday. Thanks bunches.
