John Wright, Jr.

"My first meeting with Dr. Wright felt tense. He seemed distant and abrupt, but more than very capable. He was very matter-of-fact when going over the procedure and the possilble complications. After surgery, however, my impression completely changed. I realise now that he wanted me to take the surgery seriously and not to think of it in any way as a "easy way out". After the surgery, I"ve found him very personalble and with a good sense of humor. Lisa, who is the first person I talked to in the office, is wonderful and patient. We corresponded a bit via email, and she really helped make that first step and easy one. The medical team is also great. I would travel 6 hours to have surgery with this team if I had to -- that's how comfortable they made me feel. I think future patients should really do their research and understand what they're getting into. I had no surprises about the procedure or the healing process, and I think my research helped me with that. Exercise and making smart choices are the main parts of aftercare with Dr. Wright. I had a 1 week, 1 month, 3 month and will have a 6 month visit. Thereafter, visits will be on an annual basis. There is a great support group that meets on the same day as his clinic and I try to go after every appointment. Dr. Wright really emphasized risk, so much so it frightened me a bit, but then I felt like I was prepared for the worst, and when I didnt' have the worst happen, it made the process seem, almost, like no big deal (a small exaggeration). I would rate him as a 10, saying the surgical competence would edge out bedside manner a bit."
