Debbie had surgery 4/18 & 4/24 again for an obstruction. Last Thursday, she got her feeding tube out (she couldn't believe how LONG it was!). She has been mostly drinking and starting to eat soft foods now with no problem. She is less hungry now she can eat. She has lost -33lbs and her hubby still helps pack her incision as well as having nurses a few times a week. She is walking almost a mile each day and was going out to eat tonight! YEAH DEBBIE!!! Debbie's health is coming right along... she is drinking about 48oz. a day (which is hard work for her). She is hooked up to her "buddy" (the feeding tube machine) 16 hours a day. She can't wait to be FREE! She sees the surgeon this Thursday and hopefully he will take out her feeding tube. The home nurses trained Debbie's hubby to pack her incision and he is doing a great job at it. The nurses are amazed at how well she is healing. She has lost -28lbs. now. She appreciates all of you at this site. Love, -- Shar /UT

Debbie had surgery 4/18 (I think - everything is a blur these days). Debbie had an intestine obstruction and had surgery 6 days later. Debbie had an infection and had her wound opened again. She has her surgeon now and they are keeping her on tube feeding to maintain more rapid recovery from her surgery. She is able to put a few crushed meds through her feeding tube which is better than not having them. She will see surgeon again the end of this month. She misses eating of course, but can have some liquids. Deb is able to check her e-mails if you would like to send her a get well at "dst@bridgernet.com". She is hanging in there. Love, -- Shar /UT

Well - I have another post on Debbie that an an open RnY with an intestinal obstruction. After her second surgery and going home with a feeding tube, Debbie has been back into the hospital Last Sunday she starting running a 102* temp. So she end up calling the doctor and having him paged at 10:00 at night. He thought it might just be a virus or a UTI, or lung infection setting in. He told her to take some liquid Tylenol and if the fever persisted and the next day to get a hold of her GP to run these tests. She also told him about hardness around her stomach and the outside of her incision looking a little red. He thought all sounded normal. The following day Debbie's temp was being normal until 4:00pm so she called her GP and got into their office. By then her stomach was all red and her white blood count was up. Debbie was told right off she had a wound infection. The GP called Debbie's surgeon on the telephone and he said to have another surgeon meet Debbie at the hospital. They had to re-open Debbie's incision. Debbie was scared to death, so they gave her something to calm her down and a nurse let her hang onto her arm (thankfully Debbie didn't bite her LOL). It HURT Debbie very badly when they reopened that whole incision and they figured 2 cups of pus came out. The 2nd surgeon told Deb how much better she was going to feel after all this. When Debbie had her 2nd surgery on 4/24, that put her at high risk for wound infection. So... now Debbie has a home health nurse come in 2 x a day to change the dressings and repack the incision. It will be left open to heal from the inside out. Debbie cannot bring herself to even look at it... she has just had too many procedures done. She is doing okay considering all this and feels like maybe just maybe she is on the uphill mend. She goes for her 2 week post op tomorrow in SLC. The scary part of all this... Debbie is self-pay! Love, -- Shar /UT

This is my last post on Debbie. Debbie has a hard time getting to the computer because of the medical equipment she is hooked up to (nothing personal against medical equipment). She is drinking water, tomato soup, hot chocolate, etc... She has lost -22 lbs. and is still attached to her "feed bag" as she calls it (nothing personal against horses). She sees the doctor next on the 11th. Hopefully she will be able to post to you. -- Shar /UT

Debbie had surgery 4/18 and a second surgery a week ago. She was released from the hospital Friday and his now home and doing much better. She said that when her hubby pulled the car up to get her, the sun was shining, and she just started crying she was so happy to go home. She did have one scare after getting home because her feeding tube didn't work correctly. They had to go back into the ER and have a test done. The test showed her feeding tube had come out "two turns" (which I guess is two turns of the intestine) and had to be replaced that much. Now they have her feeding tube marked so she can keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn't slip at all. She has taken a walk outside already and goes back to see the doctor May 11th. Congrats Debbie! Love, -- Shar /UT

Debbie had surgery 4/18 and another about a week later. I called the hospital today and nobody answered. When I called later, somebody else was in her old room. So, I gather that Debbie was sent home. She must be so excited to get that IV and NG tube out. She will be receiving tube feedings until her tummy swelling goes down. Yeah Debbie! Love, -- Shar /UT

I pulled this off the board for you, "04/28 09:59 AM Hi Gang--I'm praying for all the folks not having an easy time of it. Can't write much for another day or so--I'm having a very bad allergic reaction to a new med and am out of commision for awhile (and don't tell me to call my doc; I'm allergic to at least 35 meds--including antihistamines except beedryl AND steroids to fight allergies... LOL!) Vicky Bowen, you won another one; I've just broken the longest plateau in history due to your good advice (and no more diabetic meds). I'm now 6 pounds from never having to put a '2' in front of my weight again! Thanks, hon! Love... -- Ava Lee" -- Shar /UT

Debbie>UT of Logan, UT had RnY surgery 4/18 & correction of an intestinal obstruction on 4/24. I went to see her today and she is getting nourishment from a feeding tube directly into her intestine. She will continue the feeding tube for several weeks until the swelling in her pouch goes down. She has started drinking water and it seems that the water is flowing well into her pouch and intestine. She hopes to the the huge NG tube in her nose taken out tomorrow. She hopes the doctor will release her tomorrow. She is much weaker than when I saw her Easter Day, but is calm and can't wait to get home. Love, -- Shar /UT
