Barbara, I am very proud of you to have gone thru this in an effort for a better quality of life. Thank you for being an encouragement to me! ; ) K.

Well, it's been about 14 months since I had my open RNY..Some of you may know I am an Operating Room nurse (and was before I had the surgery). One of the most enjoyable parts of my job is going to talk with as many of the preop patients as I can the morning of their surgery (especially the gastric bypass patients). I reinforce what the nutritionist has taught and remind them to take the supplements and vitamins. I still keep my old picture on the flip side of my name tag so I have a truly before and after (also sometimes patients don't believe I was ever fat). This truly has been a lifesaver for me--and yes, I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Sorry, I haven't written in a while, but I have been lurking on the fringes of the message board from time to time. I am a little over a year post open RNY and still thrilled I had it done. My job is sooo much easier since I've taken the weight off. I'm still medication free (diabetes and Hi BP gone). Good luck to all the pre-ops and post-ops out there!

Happy Labor Day to all! I'm about 6 months post-op now and still feeling good. My energy is starting to get back to normal. I've lost 76.5 pounds so far (surgery 3/7/02). To all the pre-ops, best wishes with your surgery!

7/7/02 Hello AMOS family, sorry it's been a while since I posted. I am, today, 4 months post-op and have never felt better. I'm down 66 pounds and several sizes. Blood pressure is stillnormal and blood sugars are well within the normal range. Still not doing as much exercise as I should but starting up again. Still, I have no regrets about having the surgery!

Barbara: Congratulations on your terrific weight loss and rapid recovery. I, too, had surgery with Dr. Anez at Fair Oaks, and am glad to hear that he is still doing a great job for his patients. It is reassuring to know that health care professionals like yourself also choose him! Best wishes for continued good health and weight loss.

Well, I'll be 10 weeks post-op tomorrow and soooo glad I had my surgery! I'm now down 48 pounds and feeling better than ever. I still have my own personal "diet police" at work, but now they don't say much at all. About 5 of the surgeons I work with in the OR do open and lap bypasses and everyone of them has been very supportive. What a great group!
