Clarence R. Hixon

"08/01/2003 I am 5 weeks postop now. I am very happy with the fact that I chose Dr. Hixon as my surgeon. He came to see me everyday and made sure that I was fine. He reassured me that everything was going to be alright and he let me know that he was the surgeon and that I needed to trust him. 04/25/03 I have switched surgeons. I am throughly satisfied with the Dr. Hixon's capibilities as well as his personality and ofice staff. His staff was very friendly and courteous. I didn't have a long wait in the office. Even though I have already had a consult with Dr Burrowes and I feel as though I know everything there is to know about the surgery, Dr. Hixon still took his time and explained everything to me again. He even made me watch the video over again eventhough I told him that I had already seen it twice. He seems very through and he informed me that the process takes a while but his while and Dr. Burrowes while is totally different. He informed me that I should be approved by next weeks and then I could begin taking my tests and that within the next 6 weeks I should be having my surgery. I am very happy with the fact that I have changed surgeons, I don't have a bad thing to say about Dr. Burrowes, I am just happy that I have changed surgeons and he helped in the training process of my current surgeon and I feel I am in capable as well as thorough hands. I would rate my consult with DR. Hixon as a 10+.Although I haven't met Dr. Burrowes yet. I just feel as if it was divine intervention that led me to him. I was very discouraged after finding out that the doctor that I had hunted around for was no longer accepting Medicaid patients. I cried because I had been so excited upon finding out that Medicaid paid for the surgery and that there was a doctor in the Metro Atlanta area that was performing it but upon finally talking to his office and setting up my initital consult I was informed to my dismay that he no longer excepted Medicaid patients. My mother was very pessimestic when I had mentioned that I wanted to have the surgery some years ago. She met a lady at her job who had the surgery and she rushed home and told me she wanted me to have it. I talk with her co-worker and was informed of Dr. Burrowes and his wonderful staff. Then a friend that I had lost contact with call me and I was telling her that I was interested in the WLS. She told me she had did it and that her doctor and his staff was great. Guess who her doctor was. You've guessed it. Dr. Burrowes. I am very eager to meet this man whom comes so highly revered and recommended. My friends trust him with their life and I am sure I can trust him with mines. January 11, 2003~~~I have finally met the great Celio Burrowes and I must say that my impression of him hasn't changed not one bit, I see why all of his patients swear by him, he is really an expert in what he does, I feel like I am in really capable hands. He doesn't try and convince you to have the surgery in fact he tells you that this is a life-long commitment that you have to make to your health and when you are willing to do that, that is when he will perform your surgery. He didn't have to ask me twice, I have been ready. He is very knowledgeable and he oozes compassion, he is very caring. I am ready to lay on the table, ha:) But I have now have to wait but he put all my fears aside all the while letting me know that anything can happen and I should prepare myself mentally and emotionally for the road ahead. He also really believes in aftercare and that is very good, he doesn't just do your surgery and let you go. His office staff was very nice and courteous, I didn't have to wait as long as I was prepared for, he didn't have as many patients when I went in but he did have a lot of patients when I came out. I would rate my consult as a 10 ."

"I had an extended stay because of complications with the surgery. The staff as well as the accomodations were excellent. I had a private room and everything was perfect."

Tamara Browd

"Dr. Brown was very compassionate about listening to my problems and my experiences as being a morbidly obese person. She was very enthusiastic about providing me a referral to a bariatric surgeon. She listen openingly and asked me questions so that she may become more inform about the surgery herself since I was so well informed. The only problem that I had was that the scales there at the office only accomodated patients 350 and below. One a scale I would rate Dr. Brown a 10 and her office a 9 only because they didn't have a scale to accomodate me. "
