Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center

"I had two unpleasant opportunites during my stay. My first night after surgery a nurses aid came in the room with her dinner plate and sat in our room and ate her dinner. At that point I didn't feel like eating but I just thought it wasn't the place for her to have her meal. The second night I was having to go to the bathroom, which I could do by myself but I needed help getting the vibrating stockings off my legs. I paged the nurse 4 times and it took over 25 minutes to get someone to my room."

Voravit Wongsa

"I meet Dr. Wongsa yesterday, Jan. 7. I previously read some information on this website about his office and I can't say that had the same impression of the state of his office. I found Dr. Wongsa's office to be very nice. Dee came out and weighed me, measured me and gave me the whole low-down on my obesity. I am 214 lbs. 5'2" and my BMI is 39.75. I am 2lbs shy of having immediate approval from my insurance company. Dr. Wongsa came to get me from the waiting room. As others have said he is very nice and his English is excellent. He seems honest, truly caring and concerned about my well-being. He also pulls no punches. He is very upfront with the "risks" associated with WLS. I appreciate his candor. As far as his competence, he has performed over 400 Lap RNY's. He has had 4 people that have had problems with blood clots but they were in the first 100 patients. He said the most common risk is blockage from not chewing your food enough. He also said there is a non invasive procedure to enlarge the opening if that is needed. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery. I feel very confident in his skills. He does not have a structered aftercare program but the hospital does. There are also a couple of people at my company that have undergone WLS so we can help eachother. "
