"I had my consult with Dr. Brent Steward on 8-30-03. I'd met him once before at an informational meeting. He gave me all the time I needed and answered my questions. I feel confident in him as a surgeon, having heard good things about him. He's very personable. 1-20-04 Now that I'm post-op with NO complications and have seen Dr. Steward also for a post op consult, I would just like to say that he is the best....skilled (his most important attribute!), kind, compassionate, easy to talk to. He didn't require that I loose weight prior to surgery and I'm thankful. He's kinda laid back but I'm sure that he makes his decisions based on his own research, experience and the experience of other successful surgeons. It is my understanding that he was a skilled lap surgeon prior to starting WLS. I was his 181st pt. I'm so glad I had him for my doc...and I recommend him highly!"

"Well, first of all.....I hate to be negative and am NOT a negative person in general but there were some real problems, I felt. I had one WONDERFUL nurse, a couple good nurses and the rest I was NOT HAPPY with at all. One wore VERY strong perfume both nights she was on (my first and 2nd nights post-op). It was horrible....I felt sick every time she entered the room....and the odor lingered a long time after she left. It also took this same nurse over 1 hr. and 3 reminders to get me my pain med that first night. One nurse made it clear (verbally) that she only worked because she "had to" not because she wanted to.....and that's pretty much how she acted the whole 12 hr.....like she didn't want to be there. The wonderful nurse, Tina, was a total constrast to that....she was so caring, helpful and fortunately was the one that was "on" the day I had some minor problems. I got no offers for back rubs/ lotion rubs while I was there....that would have helped so much but I honestly didn't think to ask at the time (I was the sick one!!!)...they really should have offered, I think. I hate to review negatively, but I just didn't feel they were very attentive in general. Also, between my husband and I, we heard 3 staff to staff arguements (heated ones) during my 4 day stay. That is NOT good business."
