My prayers will be with you as you go through the surgery and recovery. May your strength be restored; your recovery be swift and your tender heart be renewed.

Hey everyboby! I cannot believe how many people have logged on to wish me well! Thank you all so very much - it means alot to me. Well, here I am on Sunday night, and my surgery is Tuesday morning at 9:30. Last night, my husband and I went out to dinner with our close friends (Sue Egan wrote a special message for me, maybe you saw it)and I had the symbolic "Last Supper." When we came out of the restaurant the fireworks started going off as if it had been planned specially for me! It was a beautiful evening - you really can't have too many fireworks in July, can you? So...of course today was spent on fluids and the dreaded diuretics; more tomorrow! Se la vie to the lobster - I salute him! My therapist - I dearly love her - drove about 60 miles friday night to deliver me a CD on pre-surgery guided imagery and positive affirmations. I listen to it for about 20 minutes before sleep, and it has really helped my nerves the last two days. I highly recommend trying it. I'll try to check in tomorrow, if not, maybe Sue Egan can update my profile for me after my surgery. Thanks again to all of you - that's alot of great energy you have coming my way! Kimberly

I just wanted to say GOOD LUCK on your surgery. Take a deep breath, try to relax. Know that we all care about you and are wishing you the best. Think positive, it really does help. After surgery, REMEMBER, turn, cough, take deep breaths, and walk to prevent complications. Hold your incision when you cough, it helps it hurt less. Keep your profile updated, it may make a difference in the live of someone else. Smile, keep your chin up! And lastly, if your chin does fall, just remember, from this position it is easier to moon people! :) (Also, humor helps too!)

Kimberly is facing this challenge with courage, humor and unfailing determination to live her life as fully as possible. As her friend, I have tried, but cannot begin to imagine how Kimberly has coped with so many years of physical and psychological pain. Obesity is the one physical condition that she has some control over. It is an affirmation of life that she has said good-by to one of her chief sources of comfort to pursue her vision of a better, fuller life. I am so grateful to know her, and I'm proud to be able to celebrate what we've been irreverently been calling her "Last Supper" tonight. That is not altogether irreverent, however. It is a spiritual exercise, an act of faith, to let go quite literally of so much of ones Self. I honor her vulnerability and her dignity, and I, too, pray that this will add to her happiness. Sue
