Doylestown Hospital

"While in ICU I was dropped (read my profile page 10/8/02)while the nurses were getting me out of the bed. I was in a vinyl recliner for over 24 hours. Recliner was two small for my size. I was repositioned only twice while I was in recliner. I received severe ulcers (bed sores) that became infected and - three weeks out - am still affected by the sores. Nurses on the main floor were excellent. Dietary needs to be more careful of the types of food that they serve gastric bypass patients. Cream corn chowder (skins and all), yogurt with very high sugar content, full strength orange and apple juice - seems they should be read the labels before bringing the food."

Joseph J. Curci

"First I need to say that I visited with the BRT center that is opening up in Langhorne PA. I guess because it is just starting up - the hospital isn't even built yet - I did not get the warm and fuzzy feeling I wanted. They were very detailed in obtaining the information from me and accessing my situtation, but it just seemed too 'assembly lined'. Now on to Dr. Curci. WOW - just what I wanted. From the moment I made the appointment (and I was even lucky enough to call in at the right time to move it up a week) I felt comfortable. Dr. Curci was a pleasure to talk with. You can tell he knows what he is doing. His waiting room was overflowing and not one person complained. In fact his patients that were there for follow up stated that Dr. Curci was well worth the wait! Dr. Curci is a general surgeon and devotes just a part of his surgery schedule for WLS. His partner, Dr. Ford, works hand in hand with Dr. Curci in handling the WLS surgery. There will be two very qualified surgeons that will perform my surgery. I am very comfortable knowing that I will be in good hands (all four of them at that). There is/will be a structured aftercare program. I will need to see a GP group that he recommends because of my diabetes. He wants first hand knowledge about my health - I like that! My GP or PCP is 1 1/2hrs away - and is not too thrilled about my doing this procedure. He stille believes that I can take the wiehgt off and get my blood sugars down by dieting and exercising - and I agree with him. I have done it MANY times before - but I just can't seem to keep the weight off. I would highly recomment Dr. Curci for WLS. He truly believes in this type of surgery to help patients like us."
