Hello Joy.....I have Medicare Part A&B and am on Social Security Disabilty like you. I had surgery on 9/6/02 on Medicare paid my entire bill! My hopes and dreams are to be able to return to work and become a productive citizen again, but in the meantime I thank all my fellow Americans. I worked for twenty plus years as a nurse and am very grateful to our country that this program is available so that someday I may be able to give back to it again. I hope all your dreams can come true some day also! LOVE & PEACE

Hi Joy: I am also on ss disability and I got my whole surgery covered compleatly. I have medicade and medicare too. I am very happy I did the surgery. I am now 3 1/2 months out and am doing great and not wheelchair bound now and having an exciting life now. I am a college student, play with my nieces and nefews for the first time in 10 years. enjoy shopping, jewelry, any thing that smells good, movies, concerts and am a party animal.I am a social flower, a blooming idiot.Ha Ha.I can walk about 20 min now a day and can do almost anything I want to within reason. I can bathe myself, wash dishes some, take out the trash onec ina while, etc. I know you can and will do the same in time. Go For it it is great to live for the first time in my life. I am 45 years old and feel like I am 20. It took me about 1 1/2 years for the surgery but the wait was well worth it. Sheryl OPEn RnY July 22, 2002 516/453/377/160

Welcome from a fellow Texan! I wish you the best of luck in your journey. I started looking at WLS about 8 months ago. I have 33 more days till my surgery and I can't wait. My advise to you, get your self weighed at your dr's every month for 4 months, sometimes it can take months just to get a consultation so make the time useful, get weighted, get your medical records in order for the surgeon, get your pshc eval done ect. This will speed up the waitng and getting your weight recorded at your dr's will count as your diet within the last 12 months, for insurance. Best of luck to you. If you have any quetions feel free to send an email. Jeanette Brun
