I tried to get a hold of Rick yesterday, but evidently he was out and about enjoying himself. I did get to speak with his mother. She said he was doing great. He finishes his full liquids and starts on pureed foods this Tuesday. His 2 week check-up went well. Everything is on track. He has lost 28 pounds already!!!!Way to go Rick. He is also going back to work today. He will post for himself when he has access to a computer again.

I thought my last update would be the last but Rick e-mailed me his phone number so I got to talk to him today. He sounds great. He's not taking anything for pain. He's planning on doing a clown show on Sat., 11 days after surgery! His Easter dinner consisted of chicken broth, sugar-free jello and crystal light and he said it was wonderful. He's very happy to be on the other side. He is overwhelmed by the support of everyone on the website, especially Tammy T. and Tammy from Bama. Way to go Rick!

Welcome to the other side! I must say I am kinda speechless of what to say. Your a great guy! It is neat to know a person that cares so much about everyone else, making people smile and laugh! But the neatest thing is that you are on your way to making yourself happy. That is most important. I know the last week has been a bit of a struggle but all the rewards are yet to come! I am so glad things have turned out the way that have. It is people like you that make a difference in this world! Thanks.

Last angel update. Well, I tried several times to get ahold of Rick today. First they told me he was walking the halls and to call his room later. Each time I called, I got no answer or a busy signal. Later, when I called the desk, they told me that he had been discharged this afternoon. I know he's happy to be home and have the surgery behind him. I don't have his phone number, so this will be my last posting. I'll let him update when he's feeling up to it. It's been a pleasure Rick. Welcome to your new life!

Angel update. I just talked to Rick on the phone. He passed his leak test with flying colors! He also started on the sugar free popsicles, broth and crystal light. He said his lower back was killing him. The beds at BTC are quite uncomfortable. I'll call again tomorrow morning. He should be discharged in the afternoon if all goes well.
