Hi all, I made it!! Thank god for my mother. Even though I am married, there is still nothing like your mother. Before I go into my story - I would like to thank everyone for their well wishes and prayers - especially Marty who called and updated everyone!!! It is really hard for me to realize that there are so many people out there with concerns and well wishes - Thanks again.
I got to the hospital at 10:00am- surgery was to be at 12:00pm however wasn't until 2:30pm. Waiting was not fun but never is. They took me into the operating room started IV and I do not remember anything until recovery. I do remember being out of it but with some pretty bad pain. Dino, was my ICU RN - He was wonderful He stayed with me all night and was very nice even though I was miserable. I remember him telling me about 4:20am that my mom had just called again and he told her to go to bed. HA!
Around 6:00am they moved me to my room. That day and Saturday weren't very good. My blood pressured dropped very low and had a temperture. Was on oxygen the entire time. I had one other male nurse on Friday - he was very good also. The other nurses were not too much to brag about. Again, thank God for my mom who stayed at my bedside the entire time. They bring on Saturday and Sunday, food trays with everything that would of killed me if I had taken. Everything really high in sugar - even sugar packets to add if there wasn't enough. On Sunday, my mother and I begged for my to go home. I lied and said I had a bowel movement and they let me go.
Everyday is better than the day before-I am getting most of all my fluids in, except the protein drinks - Can't stomach those yet. I bought Pro-complex Vanilla -will have to find some different ways to mix up..I am sleeping downstairs in recliner but am able to walk upstairs (15 stairs) to shower. My incision does not look too bad -thinner than I thought it would be. Well, I will update weekly with progress. Dr McCarty was very nice right before surgery and saw him one time in hospital. Thanks again to everyone.
