Hi All! I am 8 days post-op and got my staples out today. I have lost 17lbs.----LET THE WEIGHT LOSS BEGIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Although I have to admit--yesterday after reading the board I was feeling inadequate. Those of you that are one week post op and back to normal and excersising w/o any sorness or pain, my hats are off to you. I talk to my Doc today about why I still had pain and sorness, and he said b/c you just had major abdominal surgery, and should not beleive everything you read online. He also commented that he wished all his patients recovered as quickly as me..... But me and my Amos buddies are in this together, and we do not sugar coat to encourage, we encourage w/ truth and information don't we? So I am here to tell you all that are pre-op or very recently post-op like myself, that it is ok if you don't feel great post-op, and even though I have lost 17lbs in 8 days I am happy, but am not out of the recovery woods yet, and can not say yet that this is the best thing I have ever done. I am proud of my courage and willingness to go through this process, but it hurt. It hurt more than anything I have ever experienced! When I woke up in recovery I asked to be put back under. I was sick to my stomatch, and morphine did not help my pain it took different "cocktails" before I finally was able to get relief. The nurse in my room look @ me and said you know that you have had one of the most painful surgeries there is don't you? I responded w/ NO I did not know that. I have read and only a few people have written about the pain. Would I do anything differently? Absolutly not. Good Luck to all you strong and couragous wonderful people that are going to surgery this week, and to all those post-ops. I admire your determination to change your life. We all should be proud of ourselves!!!!
