Christine good luck with your surgery. I can't help you with the gas problem because Dr. Adaniel did such a great job I didn't have any. God bless you and may you have a painless recovery.

Dear Christine.........in reply to asking for tips about Lap surgery, I just had mine on thursday and ended up with horrible gas pains on the second day. Ask your doctor what to do about them and if there is a way to avoid them. WLS is a day in the park in comparison, for me. I hope you don't have any problems with that. But I was surprised that the Lap RNY wasn't so bad. I expected it would be harder than it was. When I first woke up my stomach was feeling sore...went back to sleep and after that I was only a little tender. You will only be able to handle 2-3 small sips of a protein drink and maybe 3 small bites of jello and then you'll be completely stuffed. It's hard to drink water but important so you won't get dehydrated and sent back to the hospital so please do your best. I hope the information I've shared with you will be helpful and you have an easy surgery and speedy recovery and lots of burps for no gas pain. God bless. :)

Christine, Best of wishes to you...WOW your life is full with those two precious ones to care for. As far as what you will need in the hospital...VERY Little!! I wore one set of clothes, took a change of undies, toothbrush, robe and a pair of socks and that was it. One thing you might add to your bag is some pads or tampons. I hadn't had a period that wasn't induced for years but started within a few hours of coming out of the OR. At the hospital they only had those huge maternity pads and I had to send my friend down to the gift shop for a box of tampax. You will only be there for a short time with LAP...I had the same procedure that you are going to have. I wore the clothes home that I wore to the hospital. Best of wishes to you and God speed.
